They don't make a model for the CW45, and there's enough differences between that and the PM40 that I'll need to try fitting in the flesh before I buy another holster. (Found that out with a Fobus from Cheaper Than Dirt)

Bummer. I guess that's the one thing about Kahr that I don't like. It was hell to try andfind a mag carrier for my cw9 mags. I finally had one custom made from Jimmy at Sabrosa Holsters.

Looks good! I hear what you're saying about the grips. Right now a set of $60 VZ Gatorbacks is sitting in the parts drawer while my 1911 has a set of $11 Hogues on it.

Love the VZ grips...I just haven't found the desire to spend $60 or more on grips.
Skateboard tape is the shit for FS grip.
    Good job.

For fine tuning I check out several different handloads, and factory ammo.
I wouldn't trust myself again to try tightening the bushing or slide, although I did it once on a Springfield Mil Spec without bad results. High end 1911s should not need this kind of treatment until after many thousands of rounds.

I also polish the feed ramp and chamber with a dremel buffing mop(?) and jeweler's rouge. I like both to have a mirror surface.

Other than that, realize that every load will hit differently, and until you settle on only one, moving the rear sight isn't going to zero the gun.

I've seen them, tried them, and found no obvious benefit. If they worked for anything I couldn't tell.

yea i kinda was skeptical about it... wasnt really familiar with the spring also being incorporated in the glide rode... im assuming the muzzle compensator would be more useful than that....

x2 on the CDP! I have the Ultra CDP II and it's perfect size for concealed carry, very accurate right out of the box as well!

I am looking into buying a new 1911 soon. Torn between the Kimber or the Springfield Armory. Custom TLE RL or Springfield Loaded.

Both fine weapons, but the checkered frontstrap on the Kimber tips the scale in my mind. It makes a lot of difference in the stability- although I've used the skateboard tape trick with good results. Kimber triggers seem to be generally better as well- Springfields tend to hit a notch just before the sear releases.
Numbers on Gunbroker.com are all over the place.

This, and, seems quite a few of the newer Springers are made in Brazil, otherwise, Kimber are 100% made in Yonkers, New York USA.

Be careful with the Dremel...probably the gunsmiths favorite item for generating business.
For those of you with Kimber CDP's and other light alloy frames...polishing the feedramp will quickly wear through the hard anodizing of the frame and polished aluminum doesn't stay polished very long....hollowpoints will eat right into the frame.
I only buy steel-framed 1911's and those can be worked a little more agressively.

I had reservations about aluminum frames too. i only got the S&W 1911 PD because it isn't straight aluminum. It has scandium too which is supposed to be some pretty hard stuff, though I'm not about to test it by polishing the feed ramp. They say steel guns you shoot a lot and carry a little, aluminum you shoot a little and carry a lot.

As far as reliability, I have feed about 200 israeli made wad cutters made in 1973 through it with two malfuntions, can't remember for sure but i think they were stovepipes. That would make sense with 40+ year old powder and very light bullets. Never had any other problems, and I can easily hit a honeydew at 100 yards with novak low mount sights. The steel guns do shoot nicer though because of the weight. My scandium smith just handles more quickly.
