I bought my wife a 1911-22 for target pratic and have noticed normal cheap rounds get jammed in it a lot. I heard this is common with a lot of 22 caliber hand guns and cheap practice ammo. Can anyone suggest ammo that will have better luck in this 1911? I haven't tried anything else other than Winchester BS ammo you can buy at walmart.

I've been looking at getting a Taurus 1911. Any negative factors I should know about? I see they aren't made in America but they have a factory in Florida?

Where did you get those grips?

Exactly. Always more fun with a new toy and a little suspense built up.

The guys that I know in my dept that have Tauruses are pretty happy with them.

I don't believe they do. I have the Carry version, and while it's a great 1911, very accurate out of the box, it is a little squared off as opposed to the Colts. It does fit in a standard 1911 holster, though. Note as well that while the dovetail is cut for a standard Novak sight, the roll pin is just enough off from other manufacturer's location to make it impossible to fit an aftermarket sight in front (I'm in contact with the factory to see if they'll set up a fiber optic for the gun).

As I said, I like my 4.2" barrel a lot. Saturday was at the range- three guys with iron sighted ARs at 50 yards, 9" ballons were the target. I nailed most of them with my little ol' Sig before the ARs found their windage.
