    I just got it!
Gentlemen, I've got a newb question here. Apparently we didn't know any better as far as offset #s for most of my aftermarket wheel buying career...or maybe we just ignored them. Either way, I am ignorant to the exact meanings and fitments. I've ordered my 2"-2.5" coilover lift, complete with aftermarket UCAs. I would like to go with 285/75/16s of some variety.

My question: The only available 16" rims I can stomach are 16X8s with -10mm ofset. Does that combo sound like it will produce pretty minimal rubbing? How would 0mm offset change things, if I were able to find those?

I can cut the cab mount, and re-weld it myself if it comes to that...but I'm more concerned about rubbing the UCAs at this point.

Thank you in advance for your time and recommendations

I'm in a similar boat and I believe the short answer is that this tire size will require a cab mount chop no matter what and its just a matter of how much rub- not if. The question of back space may indicate also if you run into UCA. I could be wrong but Ive been searching for a new set up for a couple months.

-10 pushes the wheel further from the UCA. No rubbing issues there. I honestly would stay around the two inches of lift, not change the UCA and you'll have very minimal rub on the cab mount area. I have the same size tire with -25 16x8 and didn't rub much until AFTER I got aftermarket UCAs. +10 to -10 with 0 being the sweet spot seem to have the least amount of rubbing issues anywhere. Staying in that area keeps a lot of headaches away.

    I appreciate your help, men.

As it happens I found something else I kind of liked today, and ordered some 17X8.5s -10 rims today. According to a little more research, I THINK that should keep me safe. I'm not so much worried about rubbing on the "outside" of the tire...meaning the contact patch. As long as I can stay clear of the suspension rubs, I can deal with the rest. I should be able to adjust my lift from 1 3/4" range, to around 2 1/2", so I hope this works. I don't do a ton of off roading like many here, but this should be my son's truck in 2 1/2 years, so it may be a minute before I REALLY know the truth. lol

Thank you again for the advice. This site is a wealth of information, and I will try to remember to add my experience when I get the pickup how I want it.

The weight savings are great but man, there is just something I love about those nomad wheels. Great looking rig either way.

Picked up a set of these on sale now @ Crappy Tire :canada:for $210 each and from what I can see one of the lightest tires in this size (285/75 16). Just 53 lbs and a 95,000 KM coverage from Cooper. Don't care about wet or ice conditions because I'll be driving dedicated winters. Compare the price to the big name Falken and BFG KO3's, that's half price...
Pairing them with Black Rhino Atlas wheel at 28 lbs each. A net difference just +4 LBS each corner compared to my last set up of 17" Ultra wheels with 265/70/17 KO2s , C load. Not too shabby.
    Pretty stoked.

Taco looks great! Did you have to do a CMC or BMC and plastic trimming? Do have a 2inch lift in the front and 1inch in the back? I just ordered 285/70/17 tires and -12 offset wheels want to know if I really have to get all that done. I do have a lift on my truck.

Tacoma looks great. Did you have to do a cmc and trimming? Are you running a lift? Thanks

Thank you:) Yeah I had to do a CMC but no trimming though. It doesn't rub at all with a 3" Dobinsons lift
