On the drive out to Western Maine Friday evening. Didn't have time to take the phone out of its mount hence the weird offcenter shot :D

Neither sun rise or set. Hell, even the moon wasn’t coming up for a couple more hours.

Met a couple friends out in the Zion Wilderness to grab some MW shots. Listened to Big Horn Sheep hooves clacking on the sandstone. Watched large bats grazing on bugs right over outlet heads. Too many orbiting satellites to count.

Outstanding photos, very well done. I've taken some Milky Way shots with my Canon T2i but they didn't come out that nice. Mine had a lot of noise and not nearly as much color.

A few weeks ago I was at a dark sky park up near the NY state border and had a few solid hours of clear skies. I think I counted somewhere between 15 and 20 satellites, and it's always fun to track them across the sky until they gradually fade out as they leave the sunlight curving around the atmosphere.

One satellite in particular was really fascinating because it had a varying and cyclic reflection as it cruised across the sky. It would slowly fade out and almost disappear, then slowly increase in intensity until there was a sudden and bright flash of light, and then the cycle would repeat.
My assumption is that it was spinning and just happened to have a flat and shiny surface (solar panel?) that perfectly reflected the diminishing sunlight directly at my location back on terra firma.

I've never seen anything like that and, likely, will never see it again.

Ive feen those fading/flashing satellites too! We can usually count a dozen or so just from our back porch, but its even better when youre out in the dark or a park or open countryside. Looks like you had a great night out there!
