Showing off my new 2nd Gen!!!

What's up everyone! I'm just joining TacomaWorld and figured it would be a great time to show off the one I just bought! It is a 2009 Off-Road. To be completely honest, I don't know a ton about trucks/cars but I am wanting to get into overlanding and the outdoors much more since I will be moving to Colorado in a couple months. I'd love to get peoples feedback on the truck and maybe have some questions for me to give my autobody guy when I see him next week!

A little back story on how I decided to get the Tacoma.. I adopted a Bernese Mountain Dog in September and he really changed the way I view my life/future. We go on hikes all the time and one day we went to Sugarloaf Mountain in Frederick, MD. When we got to the top we just sat there for about an hour and I was in complete Bliss. I graduated from WVU a couple weeks ago and always had the intention of moving to NYC to work on Wall-Street. The money would be amazing, but the work hours would be awful. I made the decision to let go of that dream I had forever and pursue a new one. One that would make my pup and I happy. So I decided to start planning on a move to Denver, CO that I'll be doing in a few months. This was purely for my love of the outdoors, but now I want to be fully immersed in it and make it not just a hobby, but a way of life (kind of). I had a 2018 Kia Stinger which was awesome, but would not let me do the things I wanted obviously.

Flew out to Tennessee, bought this guy, and drove back to Arlington, VA the same day. Now I have to learn how it works lol. Couldn't be more excited for this new chapter of life!!!!!

Welcome to TW! What's been done to the front end to hold up that bumper? Do you have an idea as to what kind of suspension mods have been done already?

Good question. That is a really beefy looking bumper.

 

Thanks! I'm not sure yet, I plan on taking it to my mechanic next Friday to get everything checked out. Did the process a bit backwards lol but it's okay.

One of the guys on here recommended a shop to get it checked out. I'm not a car guy to be honest, but trying to learn as I go but would like an expert to take a look at it top to bottom before I do anything/take it off-roading.

 

So I contacted the previous owner and he sent me the stuff I just added in the original post.
3 inch rough country lift
TKM Front bumper, its definitely beefy lol. Same as the rear.
I'd like to get a bunch of the lights working though. There are 2 on the bumper that aren't connected and the 4 lights in the grill are just sitting there.

 

What’s the rust situation?

 

It could be worse. Here are some pictures I just took a couple minutes ago.

 

Mostly look for rust on the frame. Definitely got some kinda leak going on at your tranny/diff that you should be sure to have checked out. I'd be most concerned about that and any frame rust you might see.

Otherwise, it's a nice looking truck! Cheers to the '09!

Thanks for letting me know! One of the main reasons I joined this group was to get input. When I take it to @DOUBLLD next week to get it fully checked out I will let him know.
I bought it at 220k miles

 

He should be able to take care of you then. With care, you should be able to get at least another 220k out of it!

 

That's what I told my credit union for the private-auto loan and after much convincing, they agreed haha
