Yeah that is odd. I see that a lot in train wreck pictures. I wonder if the wheel sets are technically not attached to the cars and just sit in a pivot housing. I am sure the expert @Star-Lord knows what's up.

Yep, the bodies just sit on the trucks. The trucks themselves also just sit on the wheels. Look at a modern set next time they roll by and you'll see the end bearing sits in an Inverted "U".
It's for quick and easy replacement on the track.

I inquired about buidling a scale diorama like a garage for RC trucks and its been almost 24 hours and he hasn't responded to the post where I tagged him. I call dibs on all the cool stuff he has if he is choking on his cheba hut

Hobby town and Hobby Lobby both have scale accessories for what you areclooking for.
Google can be a good resource as well.
Train layouts are simple, grass, bushes, trees and rocks.

I have bought most of this from there and Michael's as well. They are all out of the balso and basswood in the sizes I want now and I found a few items that will fit the bill for scale signage. Thinking about a window or a door from a dollhouse possibly.

I rode the Zephyr from here to Grand Junction. Train routes are cool when they break away from civilization with no roads or houses to be seen. I want to take it again with the kids

Yep, that's one of the reasons I want to do it too. Back east riding train through suburbs was very unimpressive.

    Stuff. Also things.
I’ve ridden the Zephyr a few times between here and SLC. It’s definitely a unique way to travel and the views of Gore Canyon, Glenwood Canyon, and Ruby Canyon are killer.
