I posted this in the 2nd gen forum by mistake, got a couple of replies but thought I'd try here, where the post belongs.

I'm wanting to pop rivet a bracket to this area behind and above the back seats of my 2019 double cab Tacoma. I saw the lettering about an airbag but have no idea where the actual airbag resides or what may be behind these panels on either side.

    Ideas?

I've toyed with trying to take the piece of trim loose but don't want to damage any clips that may be holding it in place.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Don't have the answer, but if it were me I wouldn't mess with it.

I agree, I wouldn't mess with that panel as if the airbag needs to deploy, that whole panel is designed to go with it. Adding a bracket will likely disrupt that which may or may not have dire consequences.

I'd be worried that the bracket would become a projectile if the airbags went off. Maybe find another place for the bracket if possible? I don't know anything about airbags or the system though... just wouldnt want something flying at my head like a bullet or tearing the airbag in an accident.

OP appears to be referring to rear pillar by the glass,,, not the center pillar in-between the front and rear doors.
I would be very careful about mounting anything near airbags,,, as mentioned- Projectile

Yes, it's not the B pillar, it's at the rear window above the back seat. Cautions appreciated. John

Edit: Dammit! What's that seat belt doing on the A pillar? :duh:

Might not be an issue? The one 10mm faster that retains the pillar trim is under that label / cover. You can see the welded nut that fastener threads into here:

The bracket I was going to put in was to hold up the corner of a light weight cargo net - nothing with much weight would be in the net. So now this may be an easy and safer solution. The cargo net has cord loops at the corners and the corners, when stretched, fit closely to the side panel I photographed. So, now, I think I can pop rivet this zip tie bracket to the plastic panel, use a zip tie to attach it to the loop on the net. Easy to take the net out cutting the zip tie, bracket stays ready for next time and this 3/4" long piece of plastic riveted to the panel should lessen the flying projectile concern.
