Why the hell would Toyota put those on their compact SUV and not on the Tacoma?

That Spotter mirror is bitchin! Thanks for costing me another couple hundred bucks for "shit I didn't know I needed!"

I had something similar happen on my 2010 F150 Platinum.Fired my truck up one cold morning, hit the rear defrost and the rear power slider shattered immediately. Scared the sh!t out of me I thought someone shot the window out. Apparently if the element is defective it heats up like "right now" and breaks the glass. Guessing that's what happened to your mirror. I had a 100,000 mile extended warranty on the truck and the window shattered at 99,000 miles. The warranty paid for itself that day lol.

My broken mirror was not considered a warranty item at my dealership. They weren't going to cover it. They asked Toyota to cover the costs and they did. So I'm not out of pocket other than two trips to the dealership.

385663C2-1FD2-449E-A995-B64DB09916CC.jpg Same thing happened to me this morning at 76 F. Put on the defrost as I’ve done at least 6 times before and as I’m driving to work I realize that the drivers side mirror is cracked, with no visible signs of impact. This one is pricey at $144 list price.

Have em show you in the owner's manual where it says "use it, but only if it's not too cold."

I have the Spotter Mirrors and they are great. When installing, make sure you cut the heat shrink away from the spade connector on the OEM mirror before you pull it off. Don't ask.

My defroster connectors took a little bit of brute force to disconnect I'll admit, but it wasn't that bad.

Tacoma doesn't have separated blind spot mirror in the corner like RAV4 models do.

I have them in mine but not much longer since I have new ones coming.

I don't remember my Tacoma ones being that bad.. they might have been but it's been years. My Tundra ones were pretty tough as well.

Thanks for you generous offer, I replaced it already. Mine have the blind spot monitor on it. Sorry for the late reply.
