That’s a new one. Someone was playing with fire next to your truck? Do you have kids?

One of those threads said Toyota plastics, and most likely other manufacturers are made from recycled milk jugs.

It was in the upper 70s here on Friday it was quite comfortable, but the afternoon sun was blazing hot.

This is becoming more common as people upgrade to more energy efficient windows and then start melting the neighbors siding.

"Low-e windows have a microscopic thin and transparent coating which reflects significant amounts of short-wave solar infrared energy. The change in barometric pressure causes energy efficient windows to become concave, and it’s that concavity that causes the magnifying glass effect."

I’ve heard that happened to some Camrys as well, not sure if it’s legit.
I’m in RI and there’s no way the sun has been hot enough to melt it with the weather we’ve had.
    I think it’s aliens

It's happened twice to my driver's side mirror cover on my 2021 Tacoma. The first time it happened was on a Spring day with mild temperature in Charlotte, NC. When I noticed it, I figured some punk used a blowtorch lighter to vandalize my vehicle. I later replaced the cover and forgot about.

On my way to my truck after work today, I see that the cover is damaged in the same way. Tomorrow, I'm going to ask my supervisor if I can look at security footage of the area where I park to see if someone is vandalizing my truck.
