Three weeks ago today I bought my "new" 2008 double cab. It has a side step bar that I can't figure out how to use. (I know, not a lot of moving parts so should be simple). Is awkward getting in no matter if put left or right foot on to step up into truck. I see lots of pictures of trucks that have these so please explain how to use. Thanks.

One foot on step, hand on steering wheel, or or handle, pull yourself in.

yes, I am serious. Thanks LOE for the help, It just seems really awkward and easier to not use it, being old and not as agile as I used to be might have something to do with it too.

No problem. If you’re a righty, left foot on the step and right hand pull is my routine.

Open driver side cab door, recommend unlocking door if locked. Grasp the “Grab handle”, left, right or both hand(s) depends upon occupants preference and comfort level. Step up on the bar with both feet. It gets tricky here. Duck head down while simultaneously placing right foot in and onto the driver side cab floor. Shift weight forward toward the inside of cab. Facing forward, swiveling hips, while bending at knees, place rear onto driver seat. Pull left leg into cab. Close door, left hand suggested.

Do you know how to saddle up onto a horse??? Left foot on the bar swing right leg in and use steering wheel or grab handle to pull yourself in

    Same crap everyone else got
Here is how I would get into my old 4runner that the bottom of the door came up to my upper thigh. Open door, right hand grabs wheel or grab handle, right foot on step ( slider) as I'm facing forward at this point. Step up and and move butt to seat so you will be kind of facing the door at this point. Once seated, turn body to swing legs in and shut the door. It's alot of steps typed out for a simple process. Never went left foot first b/c that would put me in a position that I was either facing my seat so I would have to swing my right leg in before I could get my butt down. Not happening.

Remove said step. Place in recycle bin to save the world.

If you have physical issues entering/exiting the truck there are some nice options with either full step bars or sliders.

Or choose an easier vehicle to get in and out of.

If you don’t absolutely need to use it then don’t use it. Just step into your truck. I don’t use mine but my wife does since she’s kind of short.
