Stupid question here (as most of mine are), I'm getting a new 2015 Tacoma here shortly and the dealer wants to charge $900 for the black tube step on the side. I really like that look on this truck and want to get one. Another dealer in the area said he'd get me one for $350. I'm wondering how hard these are to install myself? Does to the frame come predrilled with holes to mount OEM steps?? I really don't want to have to do much beyond bolting it together, I don't have much space to do the necessary mods if there are any.

    Yes,
watch out for any dealer "specials". there are holes on the body that can accept "predator" type steps. there are also "rock sliders" that bolt and weld on to the frame. OEM steps are easy to install by yourself, sliders normally require friends and beer. tell the dealer "no thank you", since you are on this site, you will have plenty of time to find the right look and type of aftermarket accessory or your ride. ALSO, the factory steps con be found for resale much cheaper than the dealers prices. good luck sir!

    Yeah.
OEM should bolt right into existing threaded holes in the underside of the cab. Most aftermarket steps will also, very easy to install. Check the http://www.toyotaofdallasparts.com/ site for various styles and to get reasonable prices. Select Accessories, and use the 2013 model since that is the last they have listed, should be the same -- but call and make sure just in case. You could probably get a local dealer to match their price, but they would probably have to order them.

Awesome guys, thanks for the heads up. I know the dealer will always screw us on the prices so I was hoping to be able to do it myself. I'm already shopping around for someone who took a set of their truck or possibly an aftermarket one. Thanks for the advice fellas!

Before you commit look at the Body Armor rock steps, IMO best looking side step available.
