Side steps too high up - any remedy?

    This is what Im trying to accomplish. I honestly dont really need the step, but if its there, Im sure Ill use it and the grandkids definitely will. I dont want it to be too high like the running boards OR hang down too low like the predators. I also dont like the space just above the step on the predators. Feel like someone could get snagged.
    What I really want is the protection from the snow and salt here in the midwest. I know nothing will prevent completely, but it should help somewhat. With that said, I ended up going with the Nfab RS steps. They are on sale today on Amazon for 271. 30% off. Thats cheap enough for me to at least get thru this winter and possibly decide on something better later on. Couldnt find much in the way of pics or reviews on these, but heres the stock pic....

    Snug top Rebel, Thule tracks, ditch tracks, Bagged rear suspension, F/R anytime camera, intermittent wiper switch...
    Only reason I’d add them is for roof access in which case I’d opt for full length rather than a bunch of tubing with two tiny steps. Too high to be much use for anything else.
