When the rear end twists or I grab a bedside and rock it side to side/laterally, I get a nice little internal, deadened but solid clunk that I can hear and feel. So far everything checks out tight. Ideas?

What you’re hearing while driving and the noise you hear when pushing/pulling the bedside are likely different noises. The noise you’re hearing while pushing the bedside is most likely the axle shafts moving in and out in the diff which is normal.
