Been thinking of getting a Sig SP2022. Do you think it will be to large for concealed carry?

That all depends on you. Some people can carry a large gun, others can’t. I carry a full size Glock 17 every day inside waist band. It depends on your body type, holster type, a good belt, how you choose to dress, etc. Do you carry now or will this be your first time carrying?

I carry now, usually IWB, but during the winter under my shoulder is my preferred method. I use an Springfield XDS, but am not a fan of it's small size, it's handy when you don't have a lot of space and you can throw it in your pocket if you need too. Looking for something a little larger and more accurate. I train at least once a week with the XDS and you really gotta focus with it due to it's short barrel. I'm athletic built and stay in shape. Would be nice if I could carry it in the summer IWB. Also looking at the FNX9 and the CZP07. Thanks

If you're athletic, I'd consider AIWB, which will enable you to carry a full size. Get a good holster- I recommend T-Rex Sidecars-, a good belt, and you can tuck that puppy right up. Only thing to remember is that you've got a gun pointed at your dick, so...practice draws unloaded til you get the hang of it lol. I enjoy being able to carry my fullsize M&P and a full spare mag, which I can access seated or standing, without shit digging into my back. Plus, it conceals like nobodies business. Also, the SP2022 is a great gun, it was one of my first ever firearm purchases.

I also have a Shield, which is about the same size as your XDS. In my opinion, my Glock is just as easy to conceal IWB as the Shield. Everyone is different of course, but I only carry the shield if I pocket carry.

That shirt LOL! In fact I do carry Appendix and yes the whole dick shot off thing has crossed my mind haha! Using a Stealthgear holster currently. That's a good point then, I probably can get away with a full size pistol then. Thanks!

I would LOVE to carry AIWB, but it just doesn’t work for me. I have tried it several times, but no matter what I do, I print more than I would like. I carry 3 o’clock in a Foxx hybrid.

I almost got a Shield, but a deal came up on the XDS as soon as I went to get one. Glocks are nice, I'm after a hammer fire though because I'm old school like that.

The think I hate about AIWB is if you have to bend down and pick something up. The pistol will jam into things you didn't know you had. But, for me it's the easiest place to conceal the weapon. I tried 3 o'clock, but it was really obvious because of the way I'm built.

I’m actually really wanting a DA/SA. I currently don’t have any hammer fired semi autos, and want a little variety. Plus I carry a Beretta 92 at work and want something with the same setup to train with. I was considering an SP2022 or PX4 storm.

I really like how you can de-cock them and carry chambered. I have an old Italian Beretta 380 knock off with a hammer and I love the thing. I always worry about my XDS going off though and still will not carry it chambered, I wouldn't feel the same about a hammer fired de-cocked pistol though. Not saying either is safer or better, just how I feel.

Yeah I went AIWB because I print no matter what I do trying to carry at 3-5. It was either pocket carry a tiny gun, or print all the time. I got tired of that shit and wanted to carry the gun I shoot the most, because duh, and made the switch. However you guys are right, it does require a specific body type or you're digging into stuff all the time. You also get in the habit of squatting more than bending because of aforementioned thigh destruction

If you look at that holster its got a thing they call the 'raptor claw' at the end of the holster- what that does is push your waistband out a little bit which causes your shirt to fall in such a way that you'll almost never print. It's a really clever design.

My buddy carries his everyday. He is about 6 foot and 210 pounds. Look at alien gear holsters. Those are the only IWB holsters I use now with a glock 23 and full size 1911.

I would like to try a holster with a claw. I have also seen the wedges that are supposed to push the grip in. I have tried “appendix” holsters before, but they were basically just zero cant kydex holsters. No features to really help conceal the gun. One of these days I will give a true, well designed holster a try. Maybe I will have better luck. :fingerscrossed:

i carry my SP2022 at appendix. Its definitely my winter carry but its not bad with the right holster and belt. Im using a Tuctite holster.

im also 6'8" so i have more real estate to make things disappear.

I summer carry a shield FWIW

I feel comfortable with carrying chambered. I feel like if it is a gun from a reputable company, and it is in a holster that fully covers the trigger, then there is not much to worry about. Just my opinion, everyone has there own opinion and comfort level.

if you feel you will have enough time to unholster, chamber a round and then fire you're far mistaken.

If you're carrying, carry +1 or be a victim.

    IMO

My main concern is that carrying on an empty chamber gives me more room for error. In a high stress, life or death situation, I want it as simple as possible. Draw, point, shoot.

Agreed, I'm still learning though. Been carrying for only a few months now. Starting to learn what I like and what I don't. I intend to carry chambered.
