Just wanted to know if anybody use them and how you like it? Does it change your shooter's life, or is it just an expensive gadget? Up here they are not allowed, but I would love to hear your experience with them.

I had it on my M4 in Iraq and the difference with it off and on was slight but noticeable at distance. I have no experence with it on a pistol but on a rifle to me it seemed to effect accuracy.

On long range rifles they have no effect and can improve, but that was just my experience with one on my M4 on deployments and in training

I notice a POI shift between having them on and off, negligible. Still consistent groups though. For me they don't serve any real purpose, just fun as all hell.

Suppressor is more accurate but calling them silencers is valid, Maxim trademarked his as the Maxim Silencer.

They make it a lot more comfortable to shoot without ear protection. Great for hunting. They don't usually hurt accuracy, but there can be significant point of impact shift, so you have to sight your gun in with it on. They reduce recoil, too.

I would love a setup like that. It's ok to shoot with ear protection at the range, but who uses that hunting? I don't have the guts to tell a moose to hold still while I put on my earmuffs before shooting my .300 mag. It took 4 days for my ears to recup from last year's bull.

Got 3 of them and POI shift happens, seems to improve close accuracy. Love how they quite things down when out on prairie dog towns and when in the woods shooting hogs. Originally started out as a thing but now seems to be a necessity.

+1 when all your buddy's have them and your out shooting rocks for coins..... :)

Yes and no. Heavier bullets will say pretty close to dead on. As you go to lighter bullets then it will be slightly off. But nothing major.
But in hand guns it will effect it more. Some cans block the sights and the biggest thing that effects accuracy is just getting use to the new balance of the pistol. The can does through the balance off and is noticed.

I'd be interested in hearing more about weight affecting shift. Have a source for more reading on that? With this particular rifle (308 Win) I see about a 6 MOA shift at 100 yds with the can on, which I consider major. It's the difference between hitting a deer in the heart and not, even at 100 yds. At 250 yds, it's the difference between shooting a deer in the vitals and the gut.

I will look for it online. Just read it in one of my reloading books and noticed it from my 300win mag and then my .223 seems to drift a lot more. I'll try to find a link for more info for you

Our Federal Government refers to them as silencers on the tax paperwork you have to fill out to get one. You can call it whatever you like. Silencer, suppressor, firearm muzzled, as dumb as that sounds, are all the same.
