Wouldn't have that issue if you had an SR.

Make sure that you are sizing by mm versus ring size, not the same (as I found out). It appears that the 2020+ requires a size 8 ring, which is roughly equivalent to 18.2 mm. The silicon rings that I found were sized by ring sizes, not mm. I also have some that I'd be happy (slightly disgruntled) to mail to those interested, first come, first served. Please specify which one(s) you want, top row (T1, T2, T3) and/or bottom row (B1, B2, B3). I'm lazy and slow, so during or after the holidays will mail out.

I'm a bit new to the tacoma, but I think there is a way to change the screen layout and eliminate the call contacts. I need to budget some time to just sit in the truck with the manual and make all these adjustments.
TO the OP- Nice idea, Thumbs up on the camo. Thank you for your service.

    Hondo Knobs shipped = $30

Amazon silicone rings shipped (in many different colors) = $11 (if you are a prime member)

Personally, I like the rubbery feel. This is the same reason I buy hard rubberized type grips for my ARs.

I have been using the silicone rings for a year now. Love em. No problems. But, I never have turned off the radio so I did not even know the rings (might) stick out. I just turn the volume down...

Is there a reason I am not thinking of to turn off the radio?

I have to hard reset my head unit damn near every time I get into the truck to get it to connect to my phone’s Bluetooth for audio. I never had an issue until I installed an Entune “update” a few weeks ago.

That is weird. I have a 2019 and my phone (android Samsung S8) just connects automatically as soon as I turn the truck on. Every time. I mean, I think I have had a problem 2-3 times in the last 15 months... but not enough that I even think of it. I did not even recall having any problems at all until you just mentioned it. Weird.

I have an iPhone XR, and mine always did the same thing. Connected without issue. Then I installed a purportedly “required” Entune update, and it hasn’t connected regularly since. The weirdest thing is that it recognizes my phone for everything except audio, and it periodically connects for just enough time to restart the music playing on my phone. After I hard reset the head unit, it connects without issue.

That’s not why I opted for the TacoVinyl knobs, though. I didn’t know about the silicone ring solution when I bought them, and I liked the looks of them better than the plastic variants.

I have an Xs and, although my phone connects without issue it sometimes struggles with CarPlay and will for no apparent reason jump from Sirius to the music on my phone without warning. And, I also just did the Entune update within the last week.

So I like the idea but hated having to wait for shipping:D.... I have another low-cost option for 2020 non-JBL radio knob enhancements. A modification to an existing 3D file and created a 19.7MM inside-diameter knurled knob that slips on the existing 2020 radio knobs. It is an easy print that takes like 30 minutes for four of them. Even if you do not have a 3-D printer, many libraries now do and it is very cheap. Make sure to use PETG or NGEN, not PLA. Ignore the strings, it looks very good in person and the I-phone cameras are so good nowadays...

I cannot attach the file here, so I will add to Thingiverse and post a link here in case anyone is interested.

Here are some pics of the size 8 silicone rings (18.2mm) that are 2.5mm thick and in grey instead of black, like I had in the pics before. I was stating in my last post that the size 8 silicone rings fit the knobs in the 2020 Tacoma perfect but the first ones I ordered were 2mm thick and a bit on the thin side. Personally, you could order these in 3mm and be fine but I could only fine ones in the 2.5mm thickness, which seems to be standard. I got these in grey to match the grey dash front and add some contrast to the pitch black radio face and knobs. Below are some pics. Hope this helps somebody out. 9BD82908-DB44-4206-8621-B8BDFD82F819.jpgBC436793-F992-485A-994F-FEE9367DE6F5.jpgB4E4FC81-E94B-4EFF-8754-F876680FAFA8.jpg
