That's what I do, either the hill trick or 2x10's. Home Depot or Lowes sells metal brackets that bolt on either end of a 2xX, one for the top of a ramp, the other for the bottom. They work great and are cheap.

My Suzuki LTR450 weighs about 340lbs I believe. Maybe that will give you an idea.

I bought my trailer for 500 and the registration was only 18.

By the way, my quad is in the for sale section. :D

That went horribly wrong because the ramps were too short for the height of the truck. If the ramps are long enough and you don't gas it at the top, you'll be fine with wooden ramps. I've used them most of my life and have never had an issue or mishap.

Make sure you get ramps with the straps that attach to the truck. Learned the hard way with a dirtbike.

Edit: So the ramp doesn't get pulled off the truck by the tires spinning

I'm 5'4" and I didn't have much problem just picking my Z400 up and putting in the bed. Granted, my trucks is closer to the ground than yours. My advice is bite the bullet and but a ramp, though.

an atv is more like 350-400 pounds. I've loaded my race quad (yfz450) by myself without any ramps before, it's not easy but it can be done and i've done it quite a few times actually. Just get in front of it and lift up the two front tires onto the tailgate, then snake your way under the front of the quad and lift up the rear end while walking it forward. Its a pain but it works, and it helps if you can find a dip in the ground to let the rear truck tires sit in.

it's really easy with two people, grab the front 2 tires, then the back 2 tires.
