Thanks man! I honestly just asked the car toy guys what they recommend. I’m really looking forward to hear it. Thanks for telling me it’s a good one.

Good choice on the excelon radio. My last two have been single din excelon radios and I’ve really enjoyed them. There so many setting you can truly fine tune it

Yeah this one has an adjustable screen. Since the 1gens have a lower placed radio. I’ll be able to point it upward toward the driver.

Just over a month and the truck is drivable again. Windshield is coming tomorrow afternoon. Feeling sick today so I need to rest. I won’t be able to keep working on the cage. Then next week Barb wants me to take her somewhere out in the mountains for sightseeing with the car not the truck. So I need to figure out a place to go. It will be another 3 weeks until I get back to the truck.

I still have the cross tubes for the front, the back seat floor and cross tubes, the tubes that go out the back to tie into the bed cage and weld them to the cab. I need to install all this audio stuff I got and build a sub box. Get the new vinyl flooring in. Once that is all done I’m going to have the trailing arms cut and start welding those up. Then start the bed cage design again. This build will go into next year. I highly doubt I get done this year.

Took a nap and woke up feeling better so I started on the cross tube for the bed cage. This tube ties into the cab cage too and the frame of the truck on the bed side. Which looks like I need to make and weld them on before I weld this cross tube to the inside of the cab.

This tube will have the fuel cell and shocks that tie onto it.

I forgot to post this. The last item for the audio set up. Really looking forward to a clean clear sound.

Trying to get the little things done. Welded these top tubes to the cab. Hopefully this stops the squeaking I herd this morning. My power steering fluid was low so I topped it off. Painted them with some steel it for now.

Better semi-permanently cap those tubes before a tape wrapped 1/4-20 nut its dropped inside to later rattle and sound like a hiem is wearing out.

Dick! Stop giving people ideas. :D I’m about to foam fill them. So if something did fall inside it wouldn’t be able to move and make noise.

Just weld a cap on you can cut off later. Don't add more LBS you don't need or want for little to zero gain in performance. Your going to need some headsets for it anyway so.....

AND if you ever need to weld or rapir something to those tubes you now have a fire inside the tube from the foam.

    DON'T DO IT!

@MadTaco461 thanks for the tip on the rear view mirror for the cage. I remember you posting about it on the LT thread and got one.

Even though my wife and I had plans to get out this weekend we had to push it to another time because she’s sick. She wanted to stay home and rest. So this gave me some time to keep working on the cage. Getting real close to finishing the cage.

I tied in the rear tube that is going to support a lot of things in the bed cage. I also got the driver side back tubes in. Everything starting to feel real solid. Now I know why those back seat tubes have to go there. So to finish the cage I just need to do the passenger side and the two cross tube by the front seats and I’ll be done with the cab cage. We’ll see how much I get done tomorrow.

I’m starting to get the hang of mig welding tube. It only took me this long to figure it out. No more caterpillars everywhere.

Wow that fuel cell is big. It’s going to take up a lot of space in the bed. DC problems. I’m going to have to get creative trying to fit everything back there.
