Big thanks to Corey making time for me to get this done. Tube is here and he bent the two main tubes for the cage. Time to trim the ends and see how they fit. He matched the pvc. So will see how good my pvc stuff was.

Damn that Corey is talented. Driver side fits like a glove. Passenger side is a tad off but hey all he had was tweaked pvc. Seriously though I’m impressed. He also added a couple of inches on the lower closer to the floor so I could adjust them. Good thing because if he didn’t they would of been to short. I can make these work for sure.

Slowly but surely. I’m working on the tubes around the windshield right now. The first one I bent for the upper part of the windshield I screwed up. It was to narrow in the middle and the angles where to sharp. I’ll still be able to use the tube for other sections of the cage so it won’t be waisted. The 2nd one I bent came out pretty good. I can live with it.

Baby steps since I’m working 12-14 at work then juicing up with caffeine on the way home to work on the truck.

Another tube done. Under the windshield. A litte insight on how I bend tube. I chalk line center of tube for tubes with more then one bend in it to stay level. Mark center of tube and mark 3/4 in from where I want the bend. Then follow my pvc mock up pipe. This works for me. Might not work for others.

The tube fits tight so I’m pretty happy with it. Notches or right on. I used the tube notcher for one side and grinder for the other.

    My progress for today.

The PVC mock up helped a lot for figuring out those middle tubes. But the notching for the upper part of the B pillar was a motherfooker to notch. I had to do all of it with a grinder. Little bit at a time.

You hand notching all your joints with a grinder or do you have a notcher?

    Thanks bud!

I have a notcher but I can’t do notches on bent tube. I need the tube to be straight for at least 6” so the clamp on the notcher can hold the tube centered. Or I would just cut one side of the tube.

    My homemade notcher.

One job I was putting off. I guess now was the best time to do it. Tried to not make to much noise for the neighborhood cutting steel to early. I put the battery back and removed the bedsides because I need to design the bed cage and run the cab cage into the bed. Bedsides where in the way.

Bent 3 more tubes for the roof. I got one in and the others I’m still notching. It’s not easy notching the corner of the a pillar to the center of b pillar tube. I also tac everything in since I have to drive the truck tomorrow.

Yeah who’s dumb idea was this :cookiemonster: thanks bud

What’s crazy is that every time I hit a bump and hear the cage rattle I get tense because everything is just tac in. Hopefully nothing falls through the floor as I’m driving.
