Hello. Super simple question - my 2009 6 speed has a rectangular hole on the bell housing. This is hidden by a heat shield, but one removed, it is wide open. I have searched high and low and have been to a toyota dealership to no avail seeking a dust boot to cover the hole to no avail. I simply cannot fathom the hole would be left uncovered by Toyota, seems unfathomable. Can anyone confirm and if there is a dust boot, can anyone provide the part number?

I have included a couple of images I saw on this forum to clearly show the rectangulartacoma tranny outside (1).jpg tacoma tranny inside (1).jpg hole.

Yes sir. I have driven through deep mud/streams/small rivers, very deep, lots of debris, zero chance that area was not flooded. Cannot imagine anything in there appreciates the moisture, grit or debris.

So now I'm curious. Is that normaĺy open? Thats really bad for crap intrution. I cant see any reason it couldn't be closed off? I mean it doesnt need a gapping hole.
