I believe that I looked at just about every Blue Sea Systems or aux fuse block build on this forum and even some on the jeep forums for reference, don't own one though. I'm not sure why a lot of people are fab'n those big plates, although they do look clean. To my better understanding it really does take away from a lot of access to things, firewall, fusebox, etc.

Over the weekend I put in a 100 amp circuit breaker, and a 6 fuse aux block from Blue Sea Systems.

Made a 1" x 2" stainless bracket, cause that's what I had laying around and used a spacer to keep it from touching the fender and completing a circuit. Tucked the wire around the stock fuse box. then used 4 sheet metal screws and put the block right on the inside of the fender, really cllose to the cab up high. Used 4 awg wire, all copper, heat shrinked.

seemed like a lot less trouble than what others have done. Thoughts or feedback?

    Looks good!

I think most people use a plate just because there are existing holes and the design is fairly established through multiple sources/DIY methods. I personally took a route similar to yours and mounted it on top of the fusebox cover. Although, to be honest, I have plans to put in a switchpro system at some point in the future.

If you leave yourself the right amount of slack and/or use quick disconnects you can have a plate mounted aux panel out in 5 minutes.

And I don't have to put sheet screws into my poor fender lol. (I'm a hypocrite because i installed lift struts on my hood)

yes but this was just a simpler alternative, i used two of the pre existing holes so it really isnt that bad in the end :p .. ur poor hood XDD

dont have to worry bout powder coating anything or making a nother bracket to support the weight from the other side. clean though
