Sorry, madmax20, I thought I was replying to altitude nerd.
I’m new to the site, and trying to navigate my way around.
Your bypass device looks like a winner, and I’ll follow along to see how it goes.
Please take pics as you undertake the work, for those of us who need a little more help.

    Thanks, and best of luck!

No worries. A thread like this one all too often takes many hard to follow turns.

    Good day Gentlement,

I am pleased to report, I successfully installed the harness.
I have a 4runner and creeped around this Tacoma forum because you were coming up with some innovative solutions.
But I think I found the holy grail with this bypass harness. 100% reversable and easy to install.
Please take a gander at my entire installation process with pictures here:
    https://www.4runners.com/threads/my-dcm-disconnection-odyssey.25104/page-9#post-694696

The DCM is completely unplugged, bypassed, and microphone and speakers all work perfectly.

Ok Gentlemen, here is the scoop.

Only one day after disconnecting my DCM and bypassing it with the harness, I got a call from Toyota for a complimentary service and oil change. Mind you, I just took it in 3 months ago for the same..
    Coincidence?
I think not. The toyota data collectors all of a sudden lost signal to one of their data mines and the matrix machines are angry and want to reconnect one of their data mining enterprises.

    I can't believe the nerve.
These corporate dirtbags really are monitoring and collecting data even after we deny them permission to do so.
    ...
    I will reverse the installation.
Take it in for the free oil change.
Then reinstall the bypass once again.
    ...
I briefly thought about leaving it in but truthfully, the jig is up.
I dont want them knowing what I did or claiming I voided the warranty. I would win in court, but it is better to avoid the fight altogether if possible.

    UPDATE:
I disconnected the harness and reconnected the DCM.
Took it to Toyota, and the guy checking me in was amazed to see me again so soon.
    He literally said,

"Why did they call you in again so soon? You were just here a few months ago"
I responded snarkily, I don't know, but now that you dragged me in here, I want an oil change.

So they did their normal service and oil change and tire rotation.
They gave me paperwork that the 4runner has a clean bill of health with no diagnostic faults.

As soon as I got home, I disconnected the DCM and reconnected the bypass harness. I got it down to 15 mins now. Very easy.

If they call me again, i'll tell them to wait 6 months.

To me, this absolutely proves their system is monitoring our vehicles via the DCM transmissions, even when we tell them not to do it and revoke permission. I also find it slimy that they refused to tell me the real reason for the call.

    Happy Traveling Gentlemen.

Just installed the two elimination harnesses on my 22 Taco. No more in vehicle microphone, speakers work fine...

This video shows how to get access to the DCM on our Gen 3 Tacoma...

@Barsoom Yes, for now. No in-cab mic. I'm still figuring out if it was something I did. For instance (and good catch) I did not unplug the antennae. The instructions say to remove all wires and of course, I read the instructions AGAIN after I had it all back together.

When I get a few min in the next few days I'll do it...

The instructions should say to test before reinstalling the glove box.

It should not matter if you didn’t unplug the antennas or the speaker for that matter too, if you are leaving the BCM in place. The microphone interface is in the large connector. I suspect you did nothing wrong, unless the large connector is not plugged in securely.

Another satisfied customer here. Total installation time was about 15 minutes,
most of which was watching the above YouTube video a few times to make sure I was pulling the glovebox and trim panels in the right direction so as to avoid breaking clips. Once installed, I zip-tied both bypass harnesses to one of the DCM antenna wires to keep them from rattling around, and then closed it all back up. Microphone still works, speakers all work, and no more “DCM” signal strength meter on my head unit.

    10/10, would recommend.

I didn’t unplug the antennas, either, but my mic still works. I recommend re-checking your connections to ensure they’re seated fully.

Is it safe to assume that this plug in works on all years for the 3rd Gen? On the website, it only lists Year 2020-2024

It is my understanding the Tacoma was not equipped with the DCM until 2020. If you have a 2024 I would be suspicious as to if Toyota was still using the same unit as in the late 3rd gens.

I suspect your 2019 does not have the upper console “SOS” button. No SOS no DCM.

Yeah, I don't have the "SOS" button on my upper/overhead console, always wondered what that was when browsing the forum

@Toycoma2021 Checked the large connector and it seemed good to go, the clip was clipped! Took it apart and checked the pins on the provided part. Seems one of those teeny-tiny pins was not exactly straight when the connectors were mated. It must have missed the hole it was intended to mate with and was bent into a L shape. Used a pair of tiny tweezers and a small, thin knife and got it as straight and lined up as I could. Gently mated the connectors and tried out the in-vehicle microphone. SUCCESS!

TLDR: Pin on provided connector bent as it was installed. Straightened pin and re-assembled. Worked fine.

NOTE for new installers: Check tiny pins on provided connectors to make sure they are straight and all lined up before mating with the connector off the DCM.

Glad you got it taken care of.

For others, always test before putting stuff back together.

I have noticed on other plug and play stuff the supplier/manufacturer seem to fully stuff the connectors with wires and pins. Perhaps this is to prevent possible pin bends as all the pins act together to self-align. Speed correcting devices and the 2WD LO mods are two I can think of and have installed myself after removing all the unused pins/wires. This supplier only has the active pins installed. Just some thoughts.

Yup don't knock the test fit, eliminates unintended couplings and its only teasing if you don't put it all the way in.

Wonder if this harness works on a 4th gen? The website says it covers the ‘24, I know it has a fuse for the DCM but I have no idea if it has the same box buried somewhere in the dash that this harness would work with.

I assumed with the new tech they would build that into the truck or the infotainment somehow but it might have the box in there somewhere.
