After reading their response it is apparent that they claim they were in contact with you and attempting to find the information.

Why you chose to go to a distributor for instructions on installing a product instead of going directly to the manufacturer is beyond me. I purchased some Bilstein 5100's from Wheelers Offroad and there were no instructions in any box, so it's not unusual.

Has the rep been trying to help you by trying to find a digital copy?

Have you asked elsewhere? Have you come one here and asked if anyone has instructions or pointers regarding how to install them? So far, I know of more than a few people who have ordered Bilstein's, OME's and other shocks and received them without instructions.

    Who should include instructions?

Seems to address some of the issues that were omitted in previous posts..

There are many other options that could have been explored prior to posting this thread and many other comments that could have been said instead of these.

If I buy a Samsung TV from Best Buy do I go to Best Buy and ask them for the instruction manual if it's not included or do I go directly to Samsung?

If I buy a ARB Bullbar from Central 4wd that comes with no manual do I go back to Central 4wd for the manual or do I go to ARB?

IMHO it took you a week to get the info you could have got within an hour.

In defense of the OP, he asked for help and could not get attention until he posted here. (BTW, I had the same experience)

I believe this forum is a place to have fun, share information, ask for help and discuss problems. Or are we here to protect vendors?

I feel that smart comments from the vendor speak loudly. If I wanted smart comments like that there are other forums around that encourage that.

No disrespect Chris, but Toytec, Extremetrucktoys and, Fat Bob's Garage all sent complete and thorough instructions with the suspension parts when I bought stuff.

No disrespect taken. I have gotten instructions for AAL installs (Not sure why, as they are self explanitory) from Toytec, I was just stating that I do not recall getting any instructions for Shocks. The places you listed, IIRC, sell lifts "kits", and such....Not shocks. Am I correct? Or have you gotten shock install instructions from these folks?

Edelbrock sent them with their speed sensitive shocks I bought for my Dodge.

Other than that I bought kits and components that had instructions.

    1. There is no protection of vendors. If a vendor screws over a member or members they will be handled and have been in the past.

    2. Smart comments appear to stem from that fact that Toytec claims they were trying to assist the customer and the customer was not satisfied with the result. The thread started by the OP does not state that Toytec was attempting to assist and the title claims that Toytec "has no clue".

Things could be handled very differently. Had the op stated that they were in contact with Toytec and Toytec was attempting to find a copy for them but was not able to would change the tone of the thread.

What suspension parts did you buy from them? Were they Bilstein shocks? OME shocks? Have you bought an ARB bullbar? BTW, my ARB for the Tacoma did not come with instructions but I was able to find them online very easily.

    Mr. Toytec lifts,

With the exception of grief I have with your return policy (It's a hassle and a rip off), I really have had good experience with your company.

I certainly hope you do not talk this way to customers on a regular basis. I've been building my truck up recently and your comments force me to do all future business with your competitors.:(

My issue that was similiar was lack of communication from the vendor. After the initial phonecall it was hard to get a phonecall or emails returned/answered.

Additionally, I believe the vendor should take higher ground and diffuse the situation and not fan the flames.

My only question, which has already been asked, is why on earth would you go to the distributor for instructions instead of the manufacturer? This is besides the fact that anyone installing their own shocks should not need a set of instructions to get the job done. Even the more complex design of the 5100s is still quite simple and self explanitory to anyone with a decent level of mechanical aptitude.

That I agree with but I do understand where their frustration might come from in this situation.

Please allow me to offer a bit of advice to all.

If you need instructions for shocks, it's probably best for you just to pay a shop for the installation.

All I asked for was help. It took over 7 days and the start of this thread to get it. If they could not help me they should have stated that. And the post of his response was BS. To get an attitude because you failed at customer service is sad.

I spent a bunch of money on this and didn't want to mess anything up. Simple and easy.
