A few additions to make me feel cool.
Just to chime in I have found every dealing with Toytec to be awesome. If you don't think you are talking to a person that knows how to install a part that is most likely why they are on the phone and not out in a shop working on it. Derrek has been great when I have had a question I always call and just hold for him. As for giving limited information on installs and such, from what I gathered Toytec does not send out lifts and parts with instruction because they feel that suspension parts should only be installed by persons that know what they are doing. Therefor if they tell you how to do it and your UCA comes off going 70MPH they could be held liable. I know the adjustment of a shock is not as severe however policy is just that. My .2

lol...I'm not going to pick sides on this one because I am "third generation don't give a f*ck". (Ron White)

But I don't think this thread is going anywhere, anymore lol. Nothing is getting accomplished in my opinion. I think this thread should just stop or get locked again. Can we just talk about something else?

Shall we all move to another thread and start this all over again - just a new topic?

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
there is a vast difference in logging on to ask for install help and logging in for install help, while bashing a company...especially one that is a vendor on MANY toyota sites. as stated previously, the interwebz consist of more than just one place for information that you are needing. if i got a box from a manufacturer through a vendor and it had no instructions, i would ask the manufacturer. say you buy a camera from a seller on ebay and it comes with no instructions...you are going to get instructions from Kodak, not the individual seller. on the other hand, if this was a specific part that toytec made and they were the only distributor, then i would ask them for it

Amen! "Toytec Lifts" tried to singlehandedly dismantle the company he represents tonight with horrific customer service.

Nobody knows how to put shocks on from birth. I ordered a OME lift kit from Toytech last week with no prior knowledge or experience with shocks. I read a few writeups, and asked a few members questions, and the install went smoothly. There is nothing wrong with asking questions or for intructions, you have to learn sometime. My order from Toytech went smoothly and was shipped reasonably quickly, but after seeing the comments and lack of customer service on here by Toytech Lifts I will be going with wheelers if I need anything in the future.

my take on this is as follows

precursor...i've not once bought anything from Toytec directly

quite obviously the OP feels 1 way and Toytec feels another

the rest of us will never FULLY know everything that was communicated between the 2...we're only speculating at this point...however...

While some may feel that Toytec's responses on this thread are an indication of "bad customer service" i dont necessarily agree

This customer came on this site and started a thread whining about Toytec not jumping over their own asses to help him find directions to a product they do not produce, but rather just distribute

Not once since the OP bought these shocks on the 2nd of Dec did he post a question or thread here asking for help

From what i can tell listening to both sides, the OP wanted Toytec to magically produce directions on how to move a c-clip up and down on a product they do NOT build...and Toytec was actively TRYING to find this information

A real simple solution that would have left everyone happy is for the OP have either called Bilstein directly...or post a thread here

there are TONS of people on this site with the 5100 Adjs...MANY of them could have EASILY provided the OP clear and concise instructions on how to adjust them

On top of that, while i believe in a business providing personal attention and excellent customer service, i also think that some have set the standard TOO high

The people that work there, and many other places are human...they get irritated just the same as anyone else here...especially when you have a customer who has set his expectations above and beyond anywhere near where the company should be expected to be

you want bad customer service...look elsewhere...Toytec hasnt done anything NEAR what a certain slider manufacturer did...THAT was bad customer service

i think some of yall need to keep all this in perspective...its a set of shocks...the OP was allegedly demanding more service than Toytec should be expected to provide...and then creates a thread bashing them...Toytec's owner/mgmt has every right to be upset and defend himself...and because of this...i can write off any little snappy comments about the OP by Toytec

    Furthermore

Did the OP recieve the product as described in a reasonable time at a price he liked?

    yes

No reason to demand that Toytec do anything further

I wouldnt cut them from my list of places to buy

I worked for a large company that shipped over a thousand packages per day so I can explain restocking fees!

To explain any return policy we need to cover several simple common practices concerning charge and credit transactions concerning businesses.
1: When you ordered your card was charged and Toytec was charged a non refundable percentage for the transaction of your entire order including shipping. In addition Toytec has paid someone to process your card, and invoice the order.
2: When your return credit is processed none of the original fees from the transaction are refunded to Toytec.
3: Toytec also pays employees ( I am assuming with this no one there is a volunteer!) to inspect, process, and package your order for accuracy when it was shipped.
4: Returns are received, again someone is paid to inspect, process, and credit the return; which Toytec is charged a fee for, in addition all packaging cannot be reused and is not free.
Hope this clears up the rip off statement concerning this. There is a great misunderstanding with this.
On a side note I searched other websites selling suspension parts and found that Toytec’s 15% restocking fee to offset these expenses is below the off road industry standard. I found most sites charging 20 to 25% restocking..

That's fine. Like I said it's a rip off (all that stuff you mentioned costs nowhere near 15%) but I can live with that. Business is business. Otherwise, just as I posted, I was quite pleased with the company. I would have done future business with the company.

The comments made by Mr. "Toytec Lifts" on behalf of Toytec Lifts were fiercely unprofessional. To make those comments as a representative to a company on a public forum is absurd. Many businesses would fire an employee for speaking like that to a customer one on one, much less on a forum with thousands of witnesses. I can not support a company that stands behind an employee that runs his mouth. My business will be taken elsewhere.

about as absurd as the OP coming on here bashing a company without taking 10 seconds to search for himself, to find the answer
what gets me, and its NOT just the OP here, but people in general, people will take the time and effort to get on a forum (not just here) and bash a company and/or a vendor for a "mistake" WITHOUT even trying to contact to the company or doing thier OWN research, some people just expect companies to kiss thier a$$ everyday, and when that doesnt happen, they are soo quick to post up on forums, again this isnt just about the OP here or this thread, just forums in general.

So you think its a "ripoff" that people want to get paid for doing a job ????
