I took my stock drive shaft to a local drive shaft mechanic and told him exactly what i wanted. He fabbed it up and had it to me a day later. Out the door cost was just over $400 I think?

Yes, what shop did you use? Apparently we're 2 of the 6.5 million people in the DFW area.

Drive Shaft King in Dallas. Just on the west side of the new bridge. Ask for Steve. He's the guy that made mine.

I have a 4 inch tw driveshaft installed, but I got a vibration at 75+ after I installed 4.88 gears. Thank god for this thread cause I have final figured out where it is coming from. I’ll be trying to acquire a stock driveshaft and taking it to where the op got his done. Have any of y’all had the issues with the smaller spline or is it worth to go with the Dana 300 one that one guy used?

Has anyone tried using a 1 piece driveline to get rid of the notorious 60mph steering wheel/ gas pedal vibration? I bought a 2011 access cab TRD 4x4 two months ago and they are driving me nuts. Would happily spend $600 to try and sort them out. Running totally stock by the way.

I have a 2012 Access Cab, TRD Off Road and mine is also stock. I have had the entire driveshaft replaced (under warranty) and it still vibrates. Took it back to Bailey Toyota 8 times over 6 months and they could not fix it. When I accelerate anything over 30% throttle it gives a very noticeable vibration as it goes past 40 kilometres and then a drone from 80- 100 kilometres. I added washers to space the carrier bearing and that help a small amount.

    I have read a lot on here about the endless vibrations experienced by Tacoma owners and the various solutions people have used. I have also worked on cars for 30+ years so I have tried to pay attention to what is going on. So after 2 years I am going to try this route;
I am going to replace the driveshaft with a custom two piece with 1 ton U joints and a double cardon joint after the hanger bearing. I am also going to replace the rear leaf springs as I believe they allow so much axle wrap that it changes the angle of the driveshaft causing binding/ vibration. The OEM leaf springs suck anyway so I hope to get better ride, better load carrying and little to no axle wrap.

I have 3" lift springs on a 2012 DC 4x4 and only get a slight vibration from 1st to 2nd between 10 and 15 miles an hour. I am also going with a HD 2 piece DS w/DC after CB. It will fix this problem.

Interesting. Let me know how that goes. Mine only has 54k on it so I’m pretty bummed to have problems right after buying it.

39K and had vibes from the very first day. What is amazing, they actually got better after the lift. 1st had blocks, then added air bags, now new springs. It's a Toyota feature, new from the factory. They should have put a better drive shaft in these trucks.

Hmm, strange. Damn, maybe I now have a reason to lift... I called Tom Woods and they said their drive lines are not made to solve the vibration issue... still a chance they could help though.

I have been using Tom Woods for over 20 years. Never had a problem with any of his products.

I meant to say that the tech mentioned the 1 piece can help remove the take off shudder below 20mph, but had nothing to say regarding the 60mph steering/pedal vibration that many attribute to the driveline, and that isn't the reason it gets sold.

2 piece HD DS w/DC joint will fix your problem. Then take your stock shaft in and have them do the same to it. Sell it to some other TW member who needs it. It's all good.

So Woods doesn't build a one piece long enough for the DCLB are there any suggestions for shops that will build one long enough for the TL.

I think he can only build 3 or 3.5
A 4 or 5' would be huge under these trucks. You can get anything you want out there, just how much are you willing to spend?

Solid DS, can you imagine a Tacoma built around this?

Are you saying do it like the OP and put in a Dual Cardan joint after the carrier bearing?
To be clear, I only have a vibe at 60+, under load at about 1.8-2.2k, and feel it only in the steering wheel. Go into neutral, goes away. Let off the gas, goes away. And the thing that has stumped every Tech I have shown it to, go into 4 and let the revs climb, goes away.
