Looks like you cut your cross member. Did you add any additional structure to replace it?

I cut out just the middle to ensure there is proper clearance. I did it that way so the parking brake cables still had somewhere to rest/mount to.

I haven't added any additional. The cross-member itself is really thin gauged and not very structural. About 12 inches back there is a bigger cross-member that the gas tank straps mount to.

I wonder if a 4th gen 4Runner driveshaft would work as well? Also, does it matter which way it's installed? If not, I would reverse it so the slip yolk isn't as exposed.

Good call. I haven't gotten that far yet. Just been daily driving the truck to ensure it fixed the main issue so I haven't had a chance to explore any compression situations yet. I'll take your advice from your second post in this thread and follow suit.

Looks like your installation went well too!

Slip yolk should be at the rear with the double cardan joint at the front. And not sure about the 4Runner shaft. It would need to be the same length.

What driveshaft loop is that or is it home made?

    Two questions:

    1. Do regular cabs have the cross member that holds the carrier bearing in the longer trucks, or is it only on DCSBs and ACLBs?
    2. Are the drive shafts the same for both DCSBs and ACLBs?

Do you happen to have any idea what gauge tubing was used? Would like to convert to a 1 piece but for strength and piece of mind for when I mash it on a rock.

Good question. I don't know the answer for mine. However, I'm sure they could use whatever kind you want since each drive shaft is custom and made to order.

Luckily for me these guys are located about 10 minutes from my house! I will be picking one up in this summer for sure! Pretty sure my carrier bearing is bad and who knows maybe the u-joints, so I figured I'd invest in one of these instead of wasting money on that stuff just to replace after I do a lift haha.

I damaged my driveshaft last week and have been looking for a replacement, think I may go this route since finding an used one is nearly impossible and very costly

The people at Tom Woods CDS are great! and they completely stand behind their work. I've put TW's on my Land Rovers for years and wheeled them pretty hard, I'll definitely be putting them on the Taco when/if I decide to alter it.
