‘Dad Shred build thread’ double locked & 5:29’s SOLD, now 2014 tundra cm TRD OR

I’ve wanted to race the grand junction off road (also from epic rides) for years but never made it to CO for that. #familylife. 24hrs in old Pueblo is a riot though. I’ve done that twice with some good friends. It’s just a 24hr party in the middle of the desert that happens to have a mtb race going through it also. Hahaha. Lance Armstrong was racing last time I was there. I was bummed I didn’t come across him on the trail.

 

I did the Ironhorse Classic and it was pretty cool. Got to ride through SKA Brewing and get beer handups, so that alone made it worth it!

 

Freaking A!!!!! That’s sick!!!! I’ve had several handups through my bike career but never THROUGH an awesome brewery

 

My one gripe is this: If a bar serves a Jalapeno IPA, and you as a patron/spectator offer that as a handup, you're an asshole.

Spent the next 6 miles trying to get the burn out of my eyes and mouth cuz after one spicy sip, I just dumped it over my head to cool off. Bad mistake. Spicy, sticky, and got all over my glasses so I could barely see. Ended up tossing my shades to a friend of mine that was a few miles down the track as a spectator.

 

That’s a dick move and someone obviously did that to see someone suffer. Sucks!

One of the best alcohol / bikes stories I have is when you get near the top of one of the longest and most grueling climbs at the whiskey off road mtb race in Prescott, the Drunk Cyclist crew has shots of fireball and fresh crispy bacon handups in the middle of the dense woods on top of a mountain. Nothing gets you hyped like that. It’s great

Its killing me to have these just sitting in the house (I also have the cross tube). Hopefully I can install them next month. @ARCHIVE my hangers are shot and I need to trim my 2nd leaf because it’s now digging into my shackles on hard flexes whereas before it was only getting hung up on the hanger.

Everyone and their mom seems to say that the ride quality improvement is certainly tangible and even better than they expected. ALSO - they will not restrict any flex. They allow the shackle to drop out so easily. It’s frustrating to see how much even my Archive poly bushings inside stock shackles bind and don’t fully drop out easily

 

Yea everyone says the back end plants so much better, you get crazy amounts of flex now. Are you on stock leaves? I cant decide whether to try new leaves or do these first.

 

No sir, I am on a Dakar standard duty leaf pack, with b110 shocks and wheelers superbumps. And the archive poly shackle bushings as I mentioned

 

Your springs handle the weight of your bumper and all your other weight good?

 

When you say “all other weight” remember. I literally only have an 85lb spare in the bed of my truck. That’s probably only 30lbs heavier than the stock spare. And my bumper is not significantly heavier than OEM bumper and bedsides with a hitch. Maybe another 50lbs. So I only have about 80lbs of additional weight in my bed MAYBE. No swing out, no bed rack. No RTT no hi lift jack etc. super simple setup.

 

Lol well I meant your sliders and skids, wasn't sure if that'd affect or not. I dig it simple but effective and looks awesome

 

Very true. I have steel kickouts sliders with top plates & a steel skid trio and a steel diff skid welded to the diff but I doubt those bring the rear weight down at all
