So unfortunately I got a full tank of bad old gas from a shitty gas station the other day (with 10%ethonal) and now it’s misfiring and sounds and runs like shit. I’m stuck somewhere without tools and I don’t know if it’s alright to drive, or just leave idoling and run through the gas so I can put some good gas in, or if there’s any treatment I could put in that might help. I tried a siphon tube and there’s that filter in the gas tank, and since I don’t have tools I can take that apart or do the thing in the engine with the fuel pump… if anyone has any ideas or advice god I’d appreciate it, did my fuel injector and plugs a little while ago and I don’t want to fuck anything up, (idk much about engines and it’s my daily)

an insurance company would drop tank, flush tank.

i have seen some shops have a handle pump that just sucks out bad fuel......usually a car with a 'window' under rear seat floor
fill up with good fuel and done

if you have 2rz/3rz.....could take off fuel pressure regulator.....connect a 'catch can' to the fuel rail opening
crank and crank to make pump toss all bad fuel out.....might want to hook up an extra battery or use jumper cables
not the safest way but will work in theory

this is if you def. dont want to drop the tank or take bed off to access fuel tank

Above is the best advice for draining.

But are you sure you really need to? If its just because its 10% ethanol, that's pretty standard these days. During winter that's all I can get.
Tens if not hundreds of thousands of Tacoma's run a 10% ethanol blend every day, and do not see the issues you describe. Just relatively small performance and mpg differences.

Of course bad gas is bad gas, ethanol blend or not.

I'd still be worried there might be a different issue.

    I am no expert though

Typically, IF bad gas(big fucking IF)

    3 facts always in play
    -old gas station…..with convenient store
Like used to be a Shamrock or something 20yrs ago
    -recent heavy rain
Old gas stations have old tanks
They settle(move down in the ground)
The tank’s fill spouts/filler pipes also move down.
Sometimes below the actual level of the pumps (where u swipe CC) and fill up vehicle
No biggie, unless heavy rains occurred
The fill spouts will let in rain water into huge underground tanks
Bc of Water density (fuel floats to top)
You get a $40 tank full of water(worst case scenario……seen it)
-multiple bad gas complaints from same station. This is big
I still laugh when customer says they got bad fuel at a GIANT station…..like 30 pumps….more of a rest stop than gas station (down here Bucees comes to mind)
If ‘bad fuel’ came from giant station, the entire I10 Hwy would be shut down, news helicopters overhead.
    Not impossible, but highly unlikely

    I had bad fuel claim
    $85k AMG Mercedes
Dude filled up at one of these old stations to save 8 cents a gallon
I had to do scene investigation at the gas station. the fill tank lids were literally surrounded by water…..this was 5dys after heavy rains
Too bad owner had $1k deductible
