    Ughhh... I can't believe I just spent $60 for the stupid sharkfin adapter cable. What a rip.

    Thanks for the heads up though!

    I may have a used one of these for sale within the next week or so. It is less than a year old. When I initially installed it the shark fin adapter had such a cheezy connector on it, I had to improvise and solder the connector from the antennae that came with the SCC1 & TOY-SC1 kit to the end of it, but it has worked great - and I don't have to worry about the antennae wire popping off.

    Let me know if there is any interest and I may be able to post it in the for sale forums. Probably would ask about 75% of new price.

    Thanks,

    I found some stuff on the TSS radio site, and a few others, basically what I found was that for $300 I could get the unit and the adapter to the factory roof antenna. I have too much going on right now, but probably after the holidays I will dig into getting it going

    BG;

    I did a google search with the fit kit number you provided and got this; http://www.toyotapart.com/2009-2010...SSY_PT545-00080_T-AI-0402-D_--PT545-35090.pdf

    and came up with the instructions and contents of the kit which includes another antenna with instructions of mounting it to the roof of the truck. It does not mention anything about using the factory roof mount antenna.

    Good luck!

    BG;

    To use the factory antenna (I did, no problems) there is a cable adapter called a "shark fin", on the first page of this tread is the info, or;

    What you need is a "shark fin adapter" cable. This connects in the driver side kick panel, to your satellite tuner.

    Here is one web site that sells the adapter; http://www.ltmelectronics.com/sfa12m.html

    So you confirm first hand that if i use the OEM antenna on a 2010 Tacoma and try to connect to Receiver/Tuner PT545-00080 Fit Kit PT545-35090 Sirius i will need to purchase a "shark fin adapter" to connect to the OEM painted antenna.

    Or choose i can attach the antenna that they ship with the kit. (NOT)

    Based on what info was provided when I did the google search of your install kit, yes. Two options; use the antenna provided in the kit, or purchase the shark fin adapter and use the factory roof mount antenna.

    If you want to wait until after you receive the kit from Toyota, just to be sure the shark fin adapter is not included.

    The Tuner PT545-00080 and Fit Kit PT545-35090 is diffrent then the one you installed. I went to the dealers to get a print out on how to install the PT545-00080 tuner and what I can see you would have to do some modification to the wire to use the shark fin adapter to use you factory antenna. Its not like the XM kit that you get from Toyota that lets you ues the Shark fin. From what I can tell the directions wants you to use the antenna that comes in the PT545-35090 kit. This is why I still have not purchased the PT545-00080 tuner yet. I'm wating to figure out how I can use my factory antenna with this kit from Toyota. I sure hope someone has.

    I think people are getting the two mixed up SCC1 (tuner) & TOY-SC1 (interface) and the OEM Toyota tuner. And then you have the Sirius and XM antenna different cable connectors.

    I have argued with my Toyota dealer and they say it will work. Yes - work by installing the antenna that comes with the kit and not using the factory painted antenna. But i do not want to use the antenna in the kit.

    What do i do!!! They should know!!!!!!

    Just had my OEM SIRIUS tuner installed today by my Toyota dealer. I went around and around with them about the adapter cable that would use the painted XM style antenna already mounted on the Tacoma 2010 roof. I purchased the $60 cable which should be about $20 and had them use it and it works great. The good news is the dealer gave me a $50 gift card to be used on parts or shirts or ect. :)

    TOYOTA should wake up on this issue and include the cable with the purchase of that radio. It saves labor time installing

    P.S. I checked on when installing and the tech person installed the tuner under the back seat and ran the antenna wire up to the kick panel and plugged up. The fit kit was also installed plug and play. They NEVER even removed the OEM radio from the dash. I could have done all that !!! But this was included in the purchase of the truck......

    Have a good day!

    Order both the factory kits from Toyota in Dallas Texas then order the shark fin adapter. Once you receive everything open the install box and throw away the antenna in the box. I did any the Sirius radio works great with factory painted antennae on roof.

    1 x PT545-00080 - SIRIUS Satellite Radio Receiver @ $109.74

    1 x PT545-35090 - SIRIUS Satellite Radio Fit Kit @ $88.50

    Sharkfin adapter was $60.00

    Good Luck
