I just hooked up a Sirius SCC1 receiver to my Kenwood DDX812. I have the antenna routed through the 3rd brake light to the roof, so it gets a good 360 degree view of the sky, so reception is not an issue. But the sound quality is terrible. On vocals of music it sounds like I am listening to a 64kps MP3. When I play CDs, IPOD, and FM on my head unit they all sound great, but the Sirius is just horrible. It there a bandwith setting on the SSC1 unit that I need to set to get CD quality sound? What I am listening to is far from CD quality. It makes me just want to cancel Sirius and take it back.

Satellite radio won't give you CD quality. I have sat radio in my car, I would say the quality falls somewhere between FM and CD.

How is the SCC1 connected to your headunit?

Sounds about right, Sat radio is HEAVILY compressed. 64kps is probably what you are indeed listening to.
