Sirius XM. Is it worth it? What do you listen to in your Taco?

I find that it is cheaper to get unlimited streaming and then play your phone through the Car Play / Android Play. Gives you more control of the music too.

 

My experience with Sirius XM was not good. When I found out they had been charging my father, who had dementia and cancer close to 200.00 a month for a premium subscription he never ordered, I cancelled mine and will never go back. They were terrible to deal with.

 

Sirius is $5 a month so I keep it around. You can always get them down to that.

 

Gets old quick. I dropped it. You can get it cheap if you call and say you're going to cancel

the little donkey is a 2014, so that might of been the reason they sent the deal to me. They did put it on the 22 taco.

 

They just making up stuff. My Tacoma is a 2022.

 

Considering the last time I bought gas was July 6, I’d have to sit in my driveway and listen to make it worthwhile.

 

You can also play the stations at home through the SXM app. So you could sit on your porch and listen

I know some people who subscribe for one car and use the app to stream into other cars; so 1 subscription fee.

I enjoy it so I renewed, but at ~$7 per month not the $28 they suggested. I still hit plenty of places with poor data service and their DJs play some things I wouldn’t have in my downloads. It just gives me more options. More than I need but it’s not a bad price for something I enjoy.

 

I was excited that this truck comes with satellite radio. Few things irritate me more behind the wheel than listening to DJs blathering on and on about mindless topics I don't care about, so I was looking forward to getting away from that.

But I've found that the satellite stations are just as bad as the local radio stations, so I'm not paying for that. On top of that, its mostly American topics that aren't even relevant here in Canada. I've barely listened to the satellite radio since I got the truck, so I will not be renewing once the free trial expires.

If I decide to pay for music, it'll be something like Spotify, where I can put together my own playlists, without having to listen to the DJs blathering on and on.

 

i haven't heard of live one. what's the commercials like? how often are they? i've got no problem with single-price apps, but i don't want/need another subscription.



i've had xm, sirius, and siriusxm at different times. sirius had better music selection, but the merger introduced dj's-- like i missed people talking between songs..

i just stream various radio stations through tunein radio pro-- it's $10, but zero added commercials.

 

Zero commercials for the paid subscription. I haven't done free for a few years, I'm not sure how often they are.

 

I watch a lot of YouTube. I have the premium version to eliminate advertising, which is great. YouTube Music is included in the premium package as a “free” app. It’s pretty decent.

 

Am I the only one who jams to Pandora? It’s free and the commercials aren't too annoying, I usually just volume down for the minute or two that they’re on.

 

I tell everyone that has SiriusXM that I did this and they look at me like I’m crazy. The first time I actually let the subscription expire for about a month and they started sending emails offering ‘new’ deals. I finally started a chat and told them $5/month and they agreed. All told (fees taxes etc) about $6.50. No HS and some sports channels . This is the only way I will keep the service. I like it mostly because of the variety. Although all of the channels on the app are not on the radio list. No problem, I just play them on CarPlay through my iPhone.

 

I agree. It is a terrible outfit to deal with. Like I said if they ever try to raise my subscription, I’m gone.

Love it, Had it for almost 5 years.

Never pay their advertised “special” price, can always negotiate.

 

I have it in our two main vehicles. So worth it for short trips where looking for something to play on a device isn;t worth the hassle and also for longer road trips where you just get sick of your own music catalog.

The only time I don't listen to XM is when a fav band has something new out or I find something new, or for those 1-2 hour road trips where setting up a few albums to play back to back is worth the 2-3 minutes it takes to set them up in a playlist or queue.
