    Hey Now!

I just purchased a 2021 TRD Sport and the radio is not showing SiriusXM as an option I can select. I believe it is b/c I am currently living in Puerto Rico and the option is blocked by Toyota.

My friends have Sirius in their Fords and MB. Does anyone know how I can "unlock" this option from the radio?

    Thanks!

    J.

Generally, people that wish to remove the source option for XM pull the head unit and disconnect the plug for the XM antenna. So that info leads me to ask, did your truck come with the package that has the XM antenna?

@sigrooms Good point. Let me go back there and pull the head unit to confirm. Thanks,

@kahanabob In Hawaii you didn't get the XM Box? Or you got the box and no signal?

    Thanks,

2020 might be different, but on the pre 2020 HU the whole XM unit is missing from those pictures.

Thank you. That settles it then. They are shipping them to PR and Hawaii without the XM Unit.

    Are those sold independently?

    Thanks,

Have you verified that Sirius/XM provide service to PR and HI? From what I understand Sirius/XM use two satellites which basically make a figure-eight over the continental US. Ten years ago I used to drive to Mexico, but stayed within ~20 miles of the border and I never had a problem getting satellite reception however a friend of mine used to drive much farther into MX (~240 Miles) and she would loose the signal at some point (half-way maybe? I don't remember). That might be why Toyota isn't including a satellite receiver in trucks which are destined for places where there is no Sirus/XM coverage.

i have looked into this here in hawaii. my dealer said when cars are shipped here they are picked off the lot on the mainland and put on the boat. there are not trucks made special for hawaii and PR, they just come from the stock at the factory. having said that someone is removing the XM unit from under the HU. we get no signal here anyway, i was curious in case i ever moved to the mainland and shipped my truck.

@kahanabob There is signal over PR. I used to listen to it all the time on another vehicle I owned.

Thank you all for your help.
