Thanks for the info. I am kind of wondering about this. I am in the 3 month window as well, but how are they going to keep billing you? Did I sign up for service in my Tacoma purchase contract? I know they don't have my credit card number. Thanks.

I don't think you did any sign-up through your dealer. I went to the Sirius website for some reason, don't recall exactly what, but I did register my radio at that time and did not give them credit card info. I did give my address, so they could mail bills to me, which I could ignore. My experience has been that that usually creates a bigger PitA than just cancelling preemptively. The website does not have a 'Cancel' option anywhere. I got a letter from them this week offering options for continued service after the trial expires. In the fine print it said to cancel you must call such-and-such number. It's not 100% clear to me that you need to cancel something that you never really signed up for, but 'free trials' tend to have their own peculiar logic. So I just called and cancelled and I can cross that off my list.

I guess you must live in a big town and never leave. I knew people like that when I lived in Denver. I love my satelite radio. I only have 2 radio stations in my town and one is NPR. Plus where else are you going to listen to Howard Stern? I even have a portable boom box that I take camping. And no commercials on the music stations of course.

I had what I think must have been a long paid in advance subscription that the previous owner forgot about or possibly when they were still doing "for life" memberships. I put in an aftermarket headunit so I lost that but I subscribed anyway. The Albany market has pretty lousy FM stations and I hate messing with my phone just for short drives.

I called XM tonight, they wanted $18.95 or $14.95/month (depending on the sports option) when I already have an account for my other radios! I asked if I could combine the accounts to save money and they said yes, $9.95/month. For as much as I drive my truck, coupled with the crappy reception, as we say here in Pittsburgh.. there aint no way!

My dealer signed up my radio the day that I took possession.

If you have a subscription already and then call to cancel they will offer you a better deal. Don't take the first deal. Tell them you need to talk to your signifigant other and put them on hold. Tell them it's still too much. They will offer 5 month of the full package for $25. Listen and repeat. Or order a radio on ebay that someone is already paying for like I did.

I really enjoy the XM, the music is ok but for myself I like Radio Classics which runs a lot of the old serials like Sherlock Holmes, Dragnet, Tarzan etc... and some of the talk radio especially The Blaze.

You do not have to cancel your free trial nor do you have to register to receive it. My trial started the second I drove off the lot and I had to go on the SiriusXM website to register and subscribe to a service to continue once the trial expired. Lets get real people they cannot bill you unless you sign up. This is not a cable premium service that you got on a special rate that will roll to the regular rate after 3 months.

are you using the channel selection button manually or the scan button? If you use the scan button it will only scan between the Genre that it was currently on before the scan. For instance, if you were on a talk channel and hit scan it will only scan between talk channels.

I'm addicted to XM, had it since 2004. I never listen to terrestrial radio.

I got my xm back in 2003 when they first started out, I love it and now have 3 radios. when I got my tacoma the dealer had no say about xm in the truck, about a week after I bought it i got a letter from xm with my name and radio ID and an offer for 14.95 a month, I wont pay that much i'll wait because the offers will get better, YOU ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO ANYTHING WITH XM. A while back I tried a little experiment, so I signed up for a premium pandora acct, 5.00 a month and no ads, I wanted to save some money on xm. it was a great idea except every time I turned on pandora within 5 songs they would play a tired old led zepplin song that i've heard a miilion times on fm for the last 30 years, they also played other songs from the same fm playlist from the 70's there was absolutley no creativity to there playlist's no matter what "channel" i was listening to. I guess what im saying is, xm has the DJ'S for the genre and they are very good at what they do and it's worth the small price you pay for the service.

Might it be possible just not to care enough about radio to be willing to pay for it? Did you know 'people like that' in Denver?

I enjoy mine more than I thought I would. Don't use the scan mode ... as stated earlier it will scan within the current subject matter.

I 1st got a notice to sign up for $15.95 a month ... blew it off ... next month $9.95 offer with vaived $15 sign up free ... blew that off as well ... now into 3rd month ... $24.95 for 6 months with $15 waived. Bottom line? Barter with them ... it cost them next to nothing.

You must be using the "Scan" button - which stays within a genre. Try setting the radio to channel 6 = 60's music, channel 7 = 70's music, 8 = 80's music, one of my fav's 24 = Jimmy Buffet music. All with no commercials.

I wasn't trying to bash satellite radio, I used to subscribe to XM about 10 years ago. I just don't need another music outlet, and a paid one at that. I hear you on the cell/radio coverage. When I go on long drives, I just start playing songs from my phone (the ones actually stored on the phone) so cell coverage doesn't affect it. I've got the phone plugged in to charge anyway, and they're all songs that I like or liked at some point.

I have some limitations to the quality of reception I get on my Free trial with Sirius but I will likely consider renewing with the long term if I can work a deal... I heard form the sales man that sold me the truck he waited until they offered him $24.99 a year. Then he told them he was the internet sales manager and this was his demo... They gave it to him free for life! I will not lie but will explain I am only willing to buy only if they activate it all my cars for 1 low price. If no go no big deal to me.
