XM sucks! They won't stop calling me either and are very pushy when I've spoken to them. I'll never sub to them! After using Slacker and Apple play it pains me not be able to skip or ban a shitty song...

I got that too. I tried it and it worked. I might use it in order to save some data on my phone, but probably not. I like Pandora better.

Wouldn't have it if they paid me - they play the same crappy crap over and over again -

    It's like getting Rick-Rolled every 3 minutes.

I will check out Sirius / XM when they turn it on free for everyone. I never felt compelled to subscribe and would rather listen to podcasts when I am driving.

20 years ago satellite radio was great since the way people consumed music was different. but with the advancement of smart phones & wireless internet, its as relevant as am/fm radio these days. but I did enjoy the free yr service when I purchased my vehicle new in January 2020.

Sirius is utterly worthless to me. That's mainly because I live in an urban area and have a plethora of radio stations available. If I lived way out in the country it might be different. But I don't listen much anyway. If I want music, I have a bunch on a thumb drive that I can just pop into the USB port.

The most unpleasant thing about Sirius, to me, is the endless emails offering promotions. They are the worst spam offenders.

I had it and did enjoy it for pretty much only a few classic rock channels, so I too gave them the boot. I'm retired now and gotta start cutting back somewhere. They ping me occasionally wanting me to sign back up.

yep. i had xm back before "the merger", and i was driving 50 miles each way. back then, they didn't have dj's, or commercials on the music stations. had siriusxm later on when i started driving more for work, at the beginning of when they added dj's and commercials.

it was nice to not have to re-tune the radio halfway through my drive, but each stations song selection got tiring after about a month. they still played the same 20 'hot' songs, even when selecting a station that spans a full decade--you can't tell me there were only 20 songs of any given decade that were any good.

now with the commercials on the music channels, the only benefit is the slightly different content. but with no say in what's played, limiting themselves to 'top' songs of any genre, and commercial interruptions, there's really no benefit to pay for it at all to me.

I think there's some good points made here. I personally have XM in my truck. But honestly it really comes down to what you like to listen to and can you get that with or without XM? The commercial free music is nice...but like some have said if you listen to it long enough the same songs get played over and over again. I think as some have mentioned with the advancement of smart phones, people can get almost any information they want whether is sports news, music, talk radio, podcasts etc. without necessarily having to subscribe to XM radio.

My '15 came with a 90 day All Access (I think it's called Platinum now, but not sure). For the past 7 years I simply call them a couple of days before my subscription expires and tell them to renew it at $99 a year for All Access. If not, I'm letting it expire. Sometimes I have to be transferred to "manager"....sometimes not. I then pay it on line with my credit card and select the "one time payment only" so they can't bill me for renewal the following year. I also inform them that I'm not paying the $2 invoice fee since I'm paying on line.

That gives me service in my truck and the app for the Yaris, which doesn't have sat capability.

I'm polite but firm. It's worked for 7 years now. If it ever doesn't, I'm done....and I'll use my wife's Spotify account.

I had the 3 month trial when I bought my Taco from Carmax. I keep saying no to them trying to get me to subscribe until they offered my a year at $5.99 a month with platinum and a free G4 Amazon Echo. I bit the bullet and will renegotiate in an year. And no $2 invoice fee.

I did that yearly song & dance crap with them for years and just got tired of it. Charge me $60 buck's a year without all the bullshit and I would be a subscriber for life.

In 2009 I was offered a "lifetime" subscription for 350$. I was driving 500-800 miles a week in areas with not much more than AM talk radio and was tired of playing their renewal games. At that time I figured the break-even point was around 3 years so I went ahead and did it. Little did I know that "lifetime" in Sirius/XM speak was their definition of the lifetime of the radio....apparently neither did thousands of others as a few years back they lost a class action lawsuit. I received a nice settlement check for excessive transfer fees, loss of use and now have unlimited 35$ transfers for the rest of my life (or until they shut down).

I enjoy the service, but the company has a scummy low brow attitude towards its customers. My wife likes it too so I negotiate the 60$ a year rate on her car, never give them a credit card number or pay the invoice fee they want to charge. The last few years their customer service team has gotten much easier to deal with, they no longer try to extract stupid money from me and easily get me the 60$ rate without argument or "let me check with my manager". For the cost of a cup of coffee a month it keeps my wife happy and when the day comes that I no longer want/need it in my rig I have my lifetime sub to fall back on to move to her radio.

Were older, my music is on vinyl, cassette and CD's. I use my phone to make calls with and don't like it taking over my radio when I plug it in to the car and it seems like just about the time I figure everything out with android auto/carplay something changes and I'm back to square one.

Keep it in the wife's Subie, so I installed app on my phone and listen via BT in the Taco for free.

Yes I have a lifetime Sirius Subscription too. It is hooked up to an old Starmate replay. I am currently having an aftermarket audio system installed in the Taco and will transfer it to that when the work is done. For my other cars, the $60 a year is worth it to me, and if/when it no longer is I will turn it off. $20 a month-not worth it.

I like owning my music too. I have vinyl and CDs. Cassettes are a poor medium. I enjoy ripping CDs to digital to extract the best SQ, and I like owning my music, not renting it. I do believe artists should be paid, and I have paid them.

I just bought some 'new' iPod touches right as they were discontinued to use as stand alone devices in the cars. When you are in and out of cars several times per day, it is nice to have the music instantly on when you get behind the wheel. Just like when you had a CD or Cassette loaded up.

Oh, RE Sirius, yes the SQ is lacking but I like it for the news and talk and some specialty channels like #23. Nothing makes a 2 hour trip go faster than a compete Grateful Dead concert.

23 is in slot 1 for me. There is something special about listening to GD shows and my kid asking my how I know what song is next.... because I was there.
