No hater here, the OP asked a question, I answered it. & no I can't afford a 2016 but even if I could I wouldn't buy one because I know how I use a truck & what would happen to all that bling technology (all the creature comforts)

Mostly because I'd rather spend $$ on other things I enjoy in life... BUT ! I'm a 100% Toyota guy, Ive had a 'yota in some shape or form since early 80's, so no fanboy... Whether you are a fan of 2nd gens/3rd gens matters not because EVERYTHING GOOD that either generation Tacoma is started with the 1st gen.

Toyota's legendary reliability was born from the 20R/22R 4 bangers, almost impossible to kill & I tried..

I'm on the hunt for a cap. Looks like A.R.E. has them ready to build and are about 4-6 weeks out. I just got quoted for one in the $2,000 price range. (All aluminum doors, no frills, and a ladder rack, not paint matched)

I'm curious to see if Leer and SnugTop can get anything out soon.

Well first off there are no "complete" from the ground up vehicle production/assembly lines anymore from info I got, most of it is contracted out, & the first USA manufactured toyota was a 1986 white corolla in Fremont,Ca.

Did you know that Toyota's first production 4x was made with left over jeep parts after WWII ?

My 1975 Celica was built in Japan/exported out of Japan as well...

My point is earlier toyota's that weren't scattered around the world for assembly like they are now were a more solid design/less flawed it seems, example: My '83 sr5 solid axle w/22R had leaf springs that were rock solid as you would expect a truck to be, so what happened that after 1990 literally every leaf spring they used in production (to this day) are a huge dissapointment ?

I don't think it's even where they're assembled anymore, it's more of an upper management mindset as to what goes into the production model in that production year (translation, let the public think it's getting what it wants)

The Japanese work ethic (build the best you can) has suffered a little by western standards influence
