Sitting in traffic kill your mpg?

    I commute 30 miles each way up / down the 101, avg speed 60MPH, and my mileage averages 17.3 MPG

    I apologise for making one small typo in my post ;) Oh, and sorry for not knowing the exact capacity of the Tacoma's fuel tank (some of us have better things to be doing).

    Ok so assuming a 21 gallon tank, 1gph usage you can only idle for 19 hours. Even at this level, seems low to me. Just my 2c.

    I sure have. Considering the fact that while you're sitting in traffic, you are essentially getting zero miles to the gallon, so yes, you get terrible fuel efficiency while sitting in traffic.
