Wait im confused as to what you are trying to do, you are removing a leaf in the leaf pack? Are you sure you need a new center pin? My factory leaf springs are sitting in my garage i can check when i am home.

i just recently cracked my center leaf spring, toyota wants $985.00 to fix it. i cant afford that. what i was wanting to do is remove both center leaf springs. until i can afford a new one or replace it with a used one. i dont haul or pull anything. i hoping this was a safe way to do this.

The Tacoma's leaf springs are very weak to begin with, I wouldn't recommend removing one of the leafs. Aftermarket replacement leaf packs are about 1/2 as much as Toyota's costs (~$500 for the pair). Another, cheaper, option is the Old Man Doug method. Check out member 4WD (he's old man Doug), he gets salvaged leaf springs and slips donor leafs into the main Tacoma leaf pack. The end result can be varying lifts but an overall stronger leaf pack. That would give you a permanent solution at a relatively low cost.

As far as centering pins, search in your area for a driveline shop, they are a common part and shouldn't be more than a buck or two (they might just give them to you).

Id go to the wreckers if I were you and get a pair of leaves out of a Ford Ranger. I put a Ranger leaf in with my leaf pack and got just shy of 2" of lift.

VERY TRUE. I removed my middle leaf and it gave me about a 2" drop from where I was before.
