Based on the random stuff you pulled out of there and the rust, I recommend getting the correct tap for the OEM bolts and chasing all the female threads with a little oil while the plates are off. Then, blast them clean with brake cleaner. Then use a small amount of antiseize on the bolt threads. Where ever that pointed fine pitch came out of will be jiggered up. All bolts should be identical coarse thread.

Good to know. They are a little to far for me to go to for service unless there is a bigger problem but parts and such or something they can do while I wait I will keep them in mind. I live in Illinois and drive a company truck to Milwalkee daily. Thats where I see them. Thanks for taking the time to tell me about them.

Ace has grade 10.8 metrics for like $1 a piece... Washers are like $0.40 ea. Only time I pay more than $2 a bolt is for 3" long stainless steel.

To be clear, there are clamps on there, just those cheapo screw ones...the OEM ones are long gone

Yeah...I totally am on board with that...it looks like I have a lot of cleanup to do before anything gets finished re-installed...I have a ton of rust to get rid off, the undercoating Toyota sprayed on because of the frame rust recall 10 years ago...but these bolts were a bear to get off...2 weeks of soaking in rust remover and an impact wrench eventually did the trick

Funny enough I went to Ace today...the tapered tip bolts come from their body bolt section...but I think the size is not spot on

They have plenty of possible candidates...I am getting more confident that all of the tapered bolts I pulled out are definitely not original but replacements used when the others broke or something

    I think I've narrowed it down that I need all new M8 1.25 pitch 12MM hex bolts...probably 15-16MM long...

Those do just as good a job of clamping, and don't require special tools to install or take off. I'd consider that a win in my book.

Those tapered bolts - are you talking about the self taping ones? Pretty sure those are only so the factory can zip those things on with an air tool in 1/10th of a second and not get cross threaded. You don't need to replicate that. just thread pitch, diameter, and the length (ish).

No, I believe they are different and for fitting body panels or similar where initial alignment may be tricky. I saw the same type at Ace, but I've not pulled one out of a Toyota.

I don’t think toyota uses body panel bolts for skid plates...

The bolts in the OP are the same ones I pulled from my skid plates, and they were factory. Still have a bunch of them if you want them, lol

I did . Just wanted OEM. Couldn’t get correct length at the local true value... way too long. Lowe’s had zero and Menard’s ? Raw steel. Yep I paid $1 more each.
Hardware store $1.28 bolt+.43 per wsr.
    $1.71+ tax
    vs
    $2.73
    for OEM bolt/washer+ tax!

No biggie for correct size. I missed out on a pack of 10 for $10 on Craigslist (OEM)
I kept the #’s for future reference

    Thanks
