Gahhh get under your truck! Use that time to give it a once-over! I used to find things all the time on the old jeep. Loose tie rod ends and sway bar end links, loose bolts, spots of rust starting to sprout up. Things that I could solve before it was a problem.

Don't get me wrong...those pumps are freaking great. I use them on my jet ski (have to...no drain plug). So convenient but it just doesn't feel like a complete job on a truck.

Lol. Oh I spend plenty of time under the truck just for those reasons you mentioned when I clean the truck. But I lost interest in climbing underneath vehicles for oil changes years ago.

Old post I know but this is a really good idea. Did you ever make any posts about how you made it? Did you just bend those new metal cover (looks like aluminum) by hand? What are those nuts called that stay in place on the skid plate?

I took a hole saw, and cutting wheel to mine after seeing how much of a pita it was removing, and installing that plate.

In the same boat. Why a cutting wheel AND a hole saw? Wouldn't a hole saw do the trick?

That's what I did, plus added a fumoto valve which is safely above the skid plate.

    Good lord, 4 bolts.....

I do love my TRD skid plate with ALL the draining accoutrements though

I have an RCI steel front, which has the access holes, but I could just have easily stayed with TRD plate if I really hated the idea of the weight.
