Skid plate mount bolt size

    Hello everyone! I recently purchased a 2009 Tacoma trd off road which had a 6 inch lift I ended up removing. Ive been wanting to install my BPF skid plate but found that I was missing the two brackets that the skid plate mounts to. I bought the brackets off ebay, now all I need are the bolts. Anyone know the sizes?

    I know the skid plate bolts are m8x1.25, I need the bracket bolts that mount to the crossmember. I believe they're m12? I spent some time at my local hardware store and talking with the guys at BPF, but no luck. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

    I can't find the info anywhere. But since you've already been spending time in a hardware store and under your truck, why not just buy a cheap tap and die set, see what size fits the thread, then return the set when you're done. Or keep it, it will come in handy.

    Im pretty sure they are the same size as your bumper mounting bolts. I don't know what size they are though

    Yes
    Some options: Pull a bolt off from a different place on your truck that looks like the size you're looking for and try that. Or, go to the hardware store and buy a different variety of single bolts and try them one by one. If my memory serves me correctly, that bolt isn't very long. If you have a thread pitch gauge, you could at least get the TPI of the threads inside the captive nut. Do you have any other skids installed? I believe the mid skid outboard bolts are the same. For some reason 12mm is in my head for the bolt head size. I wish I had better info to give you.

    Thanks for the help guys! I was hoping someone would know before my lazy butt would have to do more investigating, but these are some great suggestions. If I figure it out I will post on here:)

    Hey Matt, I’m installing my diff drop some time this week and I have to remove this bolt in order to install the drop kit. I will let you know what size it is if you can wait until then.
