My factory one is bashed in from previous owner. I'm just looking for some basic protection without adding too much weight, don't need to support the truck on it. I couldn't find the super basic factory skid for sale, but I guess this is the closest thing:

Kind of ugly IMO, I think I'd paint it black to blend in better. Other suggestions?

Sounds good. Is it in decent shape, like not dented up? What else did you pull off besides the front?

id have to look but it's likely in pretty decent shape besides regular road abuse/scratches. it did not see much heavy wheeling. Either way, I can dig it out if interested. I have both pieces. I have all sorts of stuff I need to dig out and sell but figured the skids easy to give those away.

I sprayed my OEM gray skidplate with Krylon's truck black bed coating. Looks much better IMO-annoyed I didn't do it earlier.

    Edit--quick pic

Yeah certainly interested. Maybe snap a pic to make sure we're talking about the same thing. I only pulled down one piece. It looks like this:

    Thanks.

Yeah--Toyota loosely calls a few different things a "Skid Plate". There is the cheesy little steel sheet metal engine cover thingy in your pic, some other cheesy little steel sheet metal things, the fuel tank plastic cover, and then there is the cheesy OEM gray aluminum skid plates in your original post and in my pic. Most(probably all) of the trucks that came with the aluminum OEM skidplate has at least 3 other skid plates on it.

This is the engine splash shield, not the same as the "skid plate" pictured in your first post. As for the oem "skid plate" , you are much better off looking into a true aftermarket aluminum skid plate for protection.

I've learned that now. I'm not picky at the moment. I just purchased the truck and want some non-trashed protection. I know that a true skid plate is a different animal.
