I have a 2018 TRD Sport that has the factoty skid plate. I would like to replace it with the aluminum plate that sells on Amazon PTR60-3519. The question I have is that my Tacoma has an air dam across the front and while I may have to remove it for installation, can it be re-installed or must it be left off?
    Thanks, Russ

leave the air dam off. It's ugly and doesn't do anything for MPG anyway.

This^^ It's easy to remove. I took mine off and didn't notice a thing. I think the truck looks better without it.

If you haven't ordered it yet, check out Joseph Airport Toyota. $373 plus free shipping with code FREESHIP. I wasn't charged sales tax either cuz I'm out of state.

Just a small word of advice.
If you don't do your own simple oil changes and you install the TRD Pro style skid plate take the filter access cover off, on the skid plate before you get the oil/filter changed. 1 it keeps ole dudes impact driver off the attach hardware and 2 it lets you get a quick inspection before you drive off the service facility. And that POS sheet metal Toyota puts on from the factory on our non TRD Pro vehicles is actually referenced as a "splash guard" not a skid plate just sayin. (Toyota loves calling it that but the Parts manual calls it a Splash guard.)

And also make sure you tell the place doing the oil/filter change, NOT to remove your TRD Pro skid plate.

What’s the point of a skid plate if you’re covering it with plastic that’ll get damaged anytime you have to use the plate? Haha.

It all depends on how hard you off-road. i don't drive into a rocks, But back road /fire road stuff, i did take it off when i went out to Moab, took 3 min. BUT when i hit big snow drifts it wont bend like the OEM splash guard did.
Every one is not making a rock crawler.

I have attempted to install the TRD PRO skid plate 3 times without success. I own a 21 Sport. Since I have a 3.5 inch lift with a diff drop, the problem lies with the length of the factory provided 15 MM bolts and spacers. It will NOT work.

Has anyone been successful install the skid plate with a diff drop? What size bolts are needed and where to obtain? Appreciate the assistance!

it won’t work because you install the diff drop.

you would add the links to the spacers and bolts equal to the amount you dropped the diff

Wow! Thanks for all the replies. I do my own oil changes and this plate makes that easier. I really just wanted to know if the air dam will coexist with the skid plate installed. I may opt to leave it off.
    Thanks all!

I ran with it off for 8 months just to see if i noticed anything different,

It stayed better in the lane at highway speeds on windy days, had Just a slight drift.
A tiny bit less noise. just a tiny bump in MPG (maybe a half) when filling up, it was just a little sooner than before.
But the most was i just didn't like the looks down low from the front, just too much tire sticking out for me. I'm running "32's
The wife likes it better on also,
it's also a early warning device for rocks not just bump.... there it is.
