I dont have those kind of dies handy. We have a pressbrake but only have the hardware for the bends.

I'd be curious the weight difference between 3/16" and 10-gauge. As well as strength difference.

i missunderstood. i was just thinking usually steel skids start looking like hell with surface rust if scratched etc.

iirc plate doesnt go by the gauge. gauge is for sheet metal. 7 gauge is 3/16 but 3/16 plate is much stronger than 3/16 sheet steel.

10 gauge isnt much thicker than 1/8" sheet steel= not very strong (stronger than stock)

7 gauge is 3/16 sheet steel is soft. Will support the weight of the truck but will dent/bend and gouge on harder impacts.

3/16 plate (carbon steel) is harder and wont dent or bend. its really tough stuff...

FYI- Allpro plates are 7gauge sheet that is stamped. Budbuilt and other plate skids need to be cut and welded to be shaped and require a break to bend over a press...

I like how solid the 3/16 a36(carbon steel) turned out so I'll probably stick with that. We have a 400 ton pressbrake that can do some damage, so there shouldnt have to be any welding done at all. I'm going to make a couple of aesthetic improvements once i get the mounting holes down. It should be about a week or so before I get another sample cut.

I want to have the full set available. I can cut something out of the front but that option will cost a little more.

Looks like a nice beefie plate!

I am looking for both function and looks.....so if those holes can be made in the front even better.

Are you going to try to do an initial order group buy for a discount possibly?

I will definately offer a group buy discount, since it will be much easier to make these in batches. I will be calling the powdercoaters today to get a price for a black coat. Once I have that, I can work up a price. As far as the stuff cut out of the front, I can do something, but concern was expressed previously about the possibility of the plate holding mud if there are holes. If this isnt a concern for you, I will be happy to throw a cut in there. I will need to work up a price depending on what design goes into the front. Hit me up with ideas and I'll see what i can do!
