Just got my addicted offroad bumper all mounted up and found out my factory skid plate won't work. Anyone that has one of these bumpers what did you do for your front skid plate?

just what make skid plate do you have now?? As these trucks never had factory skid plates.

If you can`t make it work do you have any friends that could?

They did, TRD models that is.

Was really more of a metal splash guard, but did serve its purpose against smaller rocks and whatnot.

To the OP, how far off is the mounting? Maybe someone can quickly fab up a bracket to put it all together.

I have the factory skid plate that used to clip into the front crash bar area but that was removed to install the bumper. I don't see a good way to make it work as it needs to be 1/2" longer and 1.5" taller. I regularly use the skid plate hard, put a hole in the rear one around the rack so a new set wouldn't be a bad idea. I just want to see what other people are using and what bolts up.

So you can drop the front end onto that so called skid plate from 8" and not hurt anything??

That's why I personally referred to it as a splash guard, but yes it is called a skid plate.

Aftermarket skid plates are available as a direct replacenent and are available in varying thickness that allow direct impacts to rocks (with the weight of the vehicle).

Make a piece to make up the difference does not look like a major project.

I don't know about 8" but I've definitely bounced on it and been ok. It's really used for riding rocks when high-centered or keeping rocks out when bouncing on trails. That being said I've put a hole on mine where the bottom of the rack is and they're getting pretty beat up. I just want to know what aftermarket ones will work. I don't have access to a welder or it would be easy peasy.

Are you the one that posted the same question recently?

Did you not call or email them? You would've had your answer already instead of asking here again and waiting.

Few companies will require their own skid. In your case a factory one doesn't work so it's a fair assumption that only their own skid would work.

Other skids are advertised as replacing the factory one.

Not sure what else you want.

No this is my first post on this topic. Scotty actually got back to me in about an hour about it. Yes the OEM ones won't fit. He said the RCI ones work but if someone knows of something else that would work that would be great. $350 is pricey just for one especially when Allpro wants that for both I just don't know if it'll fit.

Cost of raw materials has gone up by a large margin in the last 2 years.

Research and development, not to mention tooling, has allowed companies to fabricate stuff that are a direct fitment for the regular guy (or gal).

$350 is a bargain if you ask me.

Update got the skidplates on today and they're super nice. Bolted up like a dream and keep everything well protected. I ended up not putting in the front bolts that would go into the front cross-member as they didn't line up with the bumper but the front lip touches the bumper creating some contact so I'm not worried about it.

I think you did good .

With materials and charging my normal labor rate no way could I sell them for what you paid.
