Did we already talk about this? I don't remember, lol... I had a Lincon 125 as well. Built by bumper with it (see my build thread).

It'll work, but working with 3/16" material will leave you wanting more power. You have to multi-pass pretty much everything. My new 210 would have gotten the job done in less than half the time.

I think we did, haha. I like the little mig welder, but I hear you about multiple passes. I bet that 210 is bad-ass

What do you think about reducing some weight and going w/the 1/8" budbuilt bellypan?

Yeah, it's nice. I haven't even converted it to gas yet. the main thing with multipass flux core are those hard to reach areas, like on the inside of my bumper that are hard to get a brush in there to clean the slag off. So each pass you sit there and dig out the slag before doing another pass.

It's a Hobart 210MVP. best part is it auto-switches from 110 to 220. My shop's 220 doesn't quite reach to where I usually park my truck (even w/a 50' extension cord), so when I was building my skids, I'd tack in place with the 110 from my garage, then take it off and finish on 220 in the shop. It's also easy (aside from the weight) to travel with since you don't need to tap into someone's dryer plug, lol.

I've done a few jobs for friends (fences and the odd bumper bracket), and 110 is definitely beneficial.

Well, at least just judging by the pics on their website, I put more reinforcement on my 3/16" belly skid, they there is on their 1/8" one.

Are mine heavier? Of course. Does that really matter? depends on how much you're going to beat on them.

I've heard of people taking those budbuilt ones and welding in a couple ribs to help reinforce it. I'd probably put a couple ribs from left to right, then 1 down the center line, too.

But any way you slice it, 1/8" is better than 0/8", lol...

Right on, gotta do what you gotta. Overall it sounds like you have 2 good welders there that can work together. I nkw what you mean about slag and hard to reach spots. I wish i had 220 in my shop, and I'm way underpowered out there. I mostly make jewelry and cut rocks, but could use more juice.

Hey thx for checking out the site. And notes taken about the reinforcements, thx! above someone was saying how their budbuilt 3/16 belly got a twist in it. I might do the 3/16 IFS and the 1/8" belly pan

I sold the 125 actually. It was a $400 paper weight once I got the 210, lol The burn was that it had a nearly brand new 10lb roll of wire.

I had just built my shop (16x20 tuff shed) a year or so ago. I went a little overboard on the wiring, and it has dedicated 110 and 220 lines for welders (and several other lines for RV hookups, etc... The thought was that I had the 125 and "some day" I'd get a 220 welder. Well, by the time I finished the shop, the Hobart dropped in my lap, and I have never actually used the 110 line for a welder. INow, it's where I plug in the fan, lol.

Nice shop, mine's a stick frame 12x20, one pitch roof with the hopes of doubling it at some point. Need more space. That 220 welder sounds very good, has me thinking 'some day'. Would have to get better electric to shop, my electrician little brother can help me. Man, he gets paid good, but he does work hard.

Totally. I had an electrician come out and run the sub panel to the shop, because I did NOT want to crawl thru the attic again, that SUCKS. WOrth every penny, lol.

The rest of the wiring, I had some helpers: :D

Good kids! Good adults make good kids it seems. Happy to see them working and learning. That's a nice work table too amigo. Very nice. My wife and I have wired some outlets, we are sorta a team that way.

And good kids make good adults.

I try to think about it like I'm not raising kids, but raising adults.
