Skids and the Exhaust Crossover-

    So I'm looking at Bud's website and he talked about having a spacer to clear the stock exhaust crossover but you can gain an extra INCH of clearance if you reroute it??

    1) How do you pick up an inch from that??
    2) What is the easiest way to reroute the pipe?? I don't want to get an aftermarket Y-pipe cause I don't want to mess with my low end torque if i can avoid it.

    Crawl under your truck and look how low the Y-pipe hangs down. It doesn't surprise me that rerouting would add an inch of clearance.
    You can easily map out the reroute yourself, or take it to an exhaust shop.

    Yeah....I've BEEN under the truck...With the flat bend in the pipe under the front diff it doesn't look like an inch to me...I didn't take a tape with me to check.

    The stock guard that is under there comes off??

    And yeah...I know I can route it any way I want it...but why reinvent the mapping...or risk interfering with the skid mounting points when I have a wealth of information here.

    Anyone who has mounted up a set have photos or input??

    I'm running the bud skids and with a solid dent in my belly skid the exhaust crossover almost touches now. The Bud website recommends a Y pipe and I don't think you could gain a full inch by tucking the exhaust unless you removed the heat shield which gets into a bunch of bad things I don't wanna think about.

    Y pipe or bust. Or just leave it as is. You can't tuck up the other skids any higher so you just sort of gain an inch of belly clearance and loose the smooth skid surface. They're tough skids, they can handle being scraped every once in a while or having the entire truck dropped on them once or twice. I wouldn't mess with it if you're that concerned.

    That sounds expensive:eek:

    For a little cross-link action someone on TTORA threw up the exact answer to this question. Apparently its the way to roll for dual cases also. Do it right and everything is between the frame rails.
