A 4 speed 70 Challenger is worth a pile of money now.

Featured in the best road movie of all time (imo) Vanishing Point --- the original 1971 version, not the crappy remake.

    Every warranty available.
In my first week of driving i found a dirt bowl and tried to do some donuts in it. I slammed it in first and dropped the pedal, but then shot backwards.
My whole life driving manual i complained that reverse gates are stupid. Guess whos stupid now.

I had the 6 speed on my 2005 Tacoma. Typically I would get rolling in 1st then quickly go to 2nd then 4th then 6th.

    A 6-Speed in a 2005? I thought the 6-Speed didn't become an option until 2009.

That's why I like the "H" pattern in my Acura; Reverse is down and to the right next to 6th.

Depends on the situation. I usually row through all the gears. Downshifting, I will skip a gear more often.

Yep, I had a 2005 4x4 extended cab SR5 V6 6-speed. I had one of the first mid size Tacomas in my area.

Yeah, not a fan of that layout; back in 1982 I drove a Porsche 928 with a 5-Speed which had Reverse above 1st; that is my all time favorite type of layout.

I just slam it into 6th, pop the clutch, and launch it. Instant highway speed.

Sorry that your trucks don't have the torque to do that.

I drove a Ram with the V10 Viper motor, you legitimately could dump it in 6th at idle and it would chirp buck once and go.

No. Brake checking will get cited. I've mostly given up caring what other peeps are doing wrong around me. I just keep my stuff together and am scanning around for more critical things.

I go there to accelerate, when need.

Is this a trick question? I rarely skip on the way up, but frequently skip on the way down. Same on cars, trucks, and motorcycles with sequential gear boxes.

I definitely use 5th. As others have said it’s a nice to have two different hiway cruise gears for differing conditions. The more gears the better.

Bicycles are different. It’s common to skip gears on the way up when starting a decent.

I used to treat shifting as a sequential process, 1-2-3-4-5-6. But I found that sometimes I'd be in a gear for only a second before deciding I could upshift again.
So I decided I should just shift to whichever gear made sense for my given speed and/or acceleration.

Example: Lots of times on a 45mph road I'll shift 1-2-3-5 because I'll reach 45mph in 3rd and then shift to 5th to cruise along. Then if I see a stale red light ahead I'll (rev-match) downshift to 3rd to gradually slow down and let it turn green before I get there and usually I'll still have enough RPM to accelerate back to 45 and shift back to 5th again.

Also I always downshift to 2nd when taking a turn. I don't go 5-4-3-2. I just slow down by coasting then braking in 5th or 4th, whichever gear I'm currently in, then rev match shift to 2nd at the right moment and take the turn.
