Sky Silver SR5 make over part numbers guide. 285s and color match

    I was considering buying a new Tacoma but when I saw the current insane prices I decided against it. (71K for a TRD pro at local dealer. Pass the crack pipe) I spent a lot of time researching all this stuff so I figured I'd save some other poor soul a shit load of time. Disclaimer this is for a 2014 Pre-runner SR5. Everything worked flawlessly for me. Indicators in side mirrors pre-wired and were plug and play. So I can tell you if you have a 2014-15 prerunner sr5 side mirrors turn signal work with no wiring required. You simply unbolt old mirrors and plug in new mirrors and snap the color matched covers on.

    There was alot of scare posts about 285s rubbing and CMC needed etc and not to do it. Well I can tell you with the wheels I chose and tires I have zero rubbing if you have a 2014 prerunner sr5 you will not either. The only thing I had to do was take off the little tiny flaps in the very front. I had Bilstein 5100s @ 2.5" installed. Used stock coils and UCAs. no issues with alignment and was within spec. The ride is the same or better than what it was before more much to do about nothing from various posts I've read on here. If you want to do this for a different color just take the part number names which was the hard part to find and match paint id

    When I purchased my truck I was torn between an OR or Sport but eventually went with OR cuz of the locker. The first things I did was color matched everything. So now my OR looks like a sport, just missing the hood scoop lol.

    My regular sr5 mirrors are color matched but I’ve wanted the sports w/blinkers. Getting ready to back surgery so now I have a project for recovery time.

    This may be a dumb question, but why buy the new handles and mirrors when it's just the covers that are color matched? Is it just because the covers are made to fits those mirrors/handles and won't fit SR5/TRD OR mirrors and handles?

    You can actually rebuild the OR and sr5 mirrors and add the turn signal and covers but it's a pain in the ass. Didn't feel like doing it.
