I tried to go up a hill with some big holes and my front tire slipped then bam the entire truck came down on the skid plate.

Theres a dent in it and it rattles when going over rocky terrian, but is fine on the streets.

The dent is on the drivers side and if I wack it woth my hand it rattles pretty easy vs the passenger side. Anything I can do or just get a new one.

Its the factory skid on the 17 TRD OR.

    Thanks

I'd suggest a more rugged aftermarket skid plate if you're going to be off roading, same thing will likely happen if you just replace with same skid plate

Do you need to know, or care?
Factory skids are pretty weak. You could try taking it off and straightening it, but if serious with off-roading go for aftermarket plates with more strength. Lots of them on here if you do a search.

RCI seems to make some strong ones. But there are others.

Factory "skid" is only good for making noise when you smash it. As mentioned above, get a real 3/16 minimum plate skid.

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
what do you mean it rattles when you bang it? is it hitting the support behind it or what?

It happens. As long as you didn't dent the oil pan, trans pan or puncture your gas tank you'll be good. These things hold up to a lot of abuse. Trust me.

I ran stock skids on my 4Runner and some of the shit I've mashed them on and the sounds that accompanied them were more than cringe worthy. They did their job with a rattle here and there.

I believe its hitting the support yes and it does not feel as solid as the passenger side.

I did scrape my rear diff too but that was just mud.

I think my first upgrade will be mud tires since I dont want to fool with suspension until after the warranty.

fuck the warranty, youre going to have to argue with them regardless..

my dealer is pretty cool, they actually quoted me only 2 hrs labor for top spacers+leaf packs+shocks in the rear

first thing my service adviser said to me when i rolled up was nice bumper

Haha im tempted to do a lift and 33"s.

Still new to this but are the leaf packs for a higher payload?

i did the spacers and UCAs myself and it took me an entire saturday...so id say thats fair. I told him to do the TSB on the trans and he came back later and asked which one cause there are three different flashes.

no bullshit, this dealer has masseuses(sp?) every thurs, they have free manicures on mon, they have free lunch every day. the waiting area is like an entire bulding, free coffee makers and water and all kinds of shit lmao

I'm going with Dakars which come standard with 2-2.5" lift and are recommended for 300lb payload.

you can remove the overload, which I plan to do and it gives a better ride for empty bed up to 300lbs.

if you regularly ride with over 600lbs in the bed you can add another leaf.

    Stock and loving it
Are you serious? I just installed my 3 piece set.
If he dented it up there by the front skid plate of the stock set, almost all the cooler lines run right above that. Power steering, transmission, etc. Very dangerous.

I just installed my RCI full set last weekend and took it wheeling this weekend. Clearance is lost but I only slid it across some sand that my exhaust would have dragged through, anyway.
