Slammed Pickups... WHY?

My 05 was lowered with high performance tires and it would destroy a stock tacoma on a windy turny road which I showed my friend with my yz 250 {2 stroke} in the back. I now lifted it 3" above stock and don't pull that shit anymore. It was a truck then and is now, it's now a pain in the ass to get my bike in and out of. It's a truck either way, quit hating people.

How about when a farmer took the old El Camino out of the back 40 & rolled it out of the barn 6 months later sporting 35's. Had that happen at a light just looked up with a smile.

 

That slammed truck towing the trailer certainly piques my interest.

I am stuck in the belief that slamming a truck has to have some downsides.

Slammed drivers: When you are driving over less than favorable terrain, do you feel it more [assuming the suspension is firm]?

One big reason I love my truck at its normal height is this: when I go to park anywhere, I don't have to worry about scraping the body against a curb/cement/etc. Does this bother y'all at all?

 

if your modifying a vehicle for any reason, lifting or lowering, there are going to be compromises that you have to make. to answer your question, yes, most lowered trucks do have a firmer ride than their stock counterparts. when you lower any vehicle there is going to be less suspension travel. so that could mean either;
a) you bottom out more. and that usually means a bad ride.
b)you use certain products that either change the geometry of your suspension to allow the stock amount of travel, or create more travel through the use of a notch in the rear, or other chassis modifications.
c)have stiffened the suspension enough so that it doesn't bottom out, but then you get a stiffer ride. this doesn't necessarily mean a bad ride though, but it all depends on your tastes. my truck's suspension is extremely stiff, but has proper dampening so the ride isn't harsh.
d) you bag it. spend a lot of money on a legit setup. and your ride is cadillac smooth.

i make sure to stop well before curbs. but i have a skidplate just in case, so its all good

I have a question...
What's the deal with removing the door handles? I've seen it in a few pictures and there's a couple trucks in VT that have it.

So if a door doesn't have handles then how do you open it? With a remote or something?

Yeah usually people use an actuator that pops the door open, usually from a remote or something.

 

Door poppers with a remote. I had shaved handles on my old ranger. It's a great feeling when someone reaches for the handle to get in, then they have a puzzled look on their face when they notice there is no door handle lol
